2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament – Turin
The 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin was one of three 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men. The tournament was held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy, from 4 to 9 July 2016. The national teams of , , , , , and hosts were drawn into the tournament. qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics after defeating hosts in the final. Giannis Bourousis (Greek: Γιάννης Μπουρούσης; born November 17, 1983) is a former Greek professional basketball player who last played for ASK Karditsa of the Greek A2 Basket League. He is a 7 ft 0.75 in (2.15 m) 270 lb (122 kg) tall center. A two-time All-EuroLeague First Team selection, Bourousis has been compared to FIBA Hall of Fame center Vlade Divac by San Antonio Spurs' head coach Gregg Popovich. Orlando Homer Méndez-Valdez (born April 29, 1986) is an American-born Mexican professional basketball player for the Capitanes de Ciudad de México of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. High school career Mendez-Valdez attended Lanier High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated in 2004.
