2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship
The 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy was the third season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The season consists of twelve rounds and started on 16 April with the Portugal, Portuguese round at Montalegre Municipality, Montalegre. The season ended on 27 November, at Rosario, Santa Fe in Argentina. Petter Solberg was the defending drivers' champion. Hansen Motorsport, Team Hansen-Peugeot were the defending teams' champions. After 11 rounds, Mattias Ekström clinched the Drivers Championship. His team EKS secured the teams championship at the final round in Argentina. Calendar On 30 October 2015 the 2016 calendar was announced, removing the rounds in World RX of Italy, Italy and World RX of Turkey, Turkey and adding an event in World RX of Latvia, Latvia. The 2016 FIA European Rallycross Championship was the 41st season of the FIA European Championships for Rallycross Drivers. The season consisted of nine rounds, commencing on 16 April with the Portuguese round at the Pista Automóvel de Montalegre, and culminating on 16 October in Germany at the Estering. Olsbergs MSE
Olsbergs MSE, which also competes under the title OMSE, is an auto racing team founded by Swedish former rally champion Andréas Eriksson as Motorsport Evolution (MSE) in 2005. In 2008 it ran under the name ''Ford Team RS Europe'', while in 2009 Swedish electro-hydraulic control systems manufacturer Olsbergs bought 50% of the team and it was renamed Olsbergs MSE. The team has been competing in rallycross since its creation, and was backed by Ford Performance until 2015, and again in 2018. Cyril William North Raymond Order of the British Empire, MBE (13 February 1899 – 20 March 1973) was a British character actor. He maintained a stage and screen career from his teens until his retirement, caused by ill health, in the 1960s. His many stage, film and television roles include Fred Jesson, the husband of Celia Johnson's Laura Jesson in ''Brief Encounter'' (1945). Lydden Hill Race Circuit
Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is a motorsport venue in Denton with Wootton, about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent, England. The mile-long circuit is mainly used for Rallycross, Drift, Saloon and Sports car racing as well as Motorcycle racing. It is the shortest road racing circuit in the United Kingdom. The track was previously owned by the McLaren Group and is one of two motor racing circuits in the county of Kent, along with Brands Hatch. History Lydden was founded in 1955 by Bill Chesson with the help of the Astra Motor Club. From 1957, they promoted stock-car racing and grass-track racing for motorcycles. By 1962, Chesson wanted to progress and laid a tarmac track in order to promote motor and motorcycle road racing. The Circuit Jules Tacheny Mettet is a motor racing circuit in Mettet, Wallonia (Belgium), southeast of Charleroi. The circuit was finalized in 2010 near the old street circuit. History Motorcycle racing During the early 1920s motorcycle racers started to race around a circuit composed of local streets surrounding the Belgian city of Mettet. The first motorcycle Grand Prix Entre Sambre et Meuse was held in 1928. Belgian driver Albert Breslau won the first race on an AJS.
