2016 Dhivehi Premier League
The 2016 Dhivehi Premier League was the second season of the Dhivehi Premier League, the top division of Maldivian football. The season began on 19 April 2015. The league was made up of the 8 clubs. Format All eight teams play against each other in Three Round Format. Team with most total points at the end of the season will be crowned as Dhivehi Premier League champion and qualified to the AFC Cup. Top four teams qualify for the President's Cup. Teams A total of 8 teams will be contesting in the league, including 7 sides from the 2015 Dhivehi Premier League season and one promoted from the 2015 Second Division Football Tournament. Dhivehi Premier League
Dhivehi Premier League is a Maldivian men's professional football league. At the top of the Maldives football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 10 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Second Division Football Tournament. Teams are playing 14 matches each (playing each team in the league twice) totalling 56 matches in the season. The competition formed as the Dhivehi Premier League succeeded the Dhivehi League. From 2018 onward 10 teams compete in Dhivehi Premier League. History Competition format Competition There are 10 clubs in the Premier League. Ali Ashfaq
Ali Ashfaq (; born 6 September 1985) is a Maldivian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains the Maldives national team. Nicknamed "Man of Steel" (), he is regarded as one of the best players in the South Asian region. A prolific and individualistic goalscorer, he is a free-kick specialist and a clinical finisher. His trademark style of scoring is beating the defenders and rounding off the keeper to score. Andrej Kerić
Andrej Kerić (born 11 February 1986) is a retired Croatian professional footballer who played as a striker. Club career Kerić started his football career in the town of Vinkovci by the local side Cibalia. In the 2003–04 season Kerić first appeared in the first squad of Cibalia. In four seasons at Cibalia, Kerić scored 9 goals in 64 matches. In February 2008 he signed a three and a half-year contract with Czech club Slovan Liberec. Mohamed Umair
Mohamed Umair (born 3 July 1988) is a Maldivian professional footballer. In his career Umair has played as a defender, midfielder, and forward. International career Umair made his debut for Maldives on 8 October 2007, in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Yemem and later he was substituted for Mukhthar Naseer in the 60th minute at the Ali Muhsin Al-Muriasi Stadium. Ali Nafiu
ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib ( ar, عَلِيّ بْن أَبِي طَالِب; 600 – 661 CE) was the last of four Rightly Guided Caliphs to rule Islam (r. 656 – 661) immediately after the death of Muhammad, and he was the first Shia Imam. Asadhulla Abdulla (born 19 October 1990) is a Maldivian footballer who plays for Maziya.
