The 2016 Clásica de Almería was the 31st edition of the Clásica de Almería cycle race and was held on 14 February 2016. The race, originally intended to be but cut short due to strong winds, started in Almería and finished in Roquetas de Mar. The race was won by Leigh Howard. Leigh Howard
Leigh Howard (born 18 October 1989) is an Australian professional Cycle sport, racing cyclist. He qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in both the Men's Madison and Men's Team Pursuit. Howard was part of the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's team pursuit, Men's team pursuit together with Kelland O'Brien, Sam Welsford, Sam Weisford and Alexander Porter (cyclist), Alexander Porter. They secured a bronze medal after overlapping New Zealand who had crashed. Howard also competed in the Men's Madison where the team finished fifth with a time of 3:48.448 and therefore did not qualify for the final. Alexey Tsatevich (born 5 July 1989) is a Russian professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI Professional Continental team . Career Born in Verkhnyaya Pyshma in the then-Soviet Union, Tsatevich has competed as a professional since the start of the 2012 season, when he joined , having previously competed for the squad's feeder team – – in 2011. After several top ten placements during the 2012 season, Tsatevich achieved the first win of his professional career in February 2013, when he won the 1.1-categorised Le Samyn race in Belgium. Aleksejs Saramotins (born 8 April 1982) is a Latvian professional road cyclist, who last rode for UCI Continental team . He has won the Latvian National Road Race Championships on seven occasions and has represented his country at the Summer Olympic Games and the UCI Road World Championships. 2017 Clásica De Almería
The 2017 Clásica de Almería was the 32nd edition of the Clásica de Almería road cycling one day race. It was part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour, as a 1.1 categorised race. In a sprint finish, Denmark's Magnus Cort () won the race ahead of 's Rüdiger Selig, while the podium was completed by Jens Debusschere for the team. The Clásica de Almería ( en, Classic of Almería) is a single-day road bicycle race held annually in February or March in Almería, Spain, starting and finishing in Almería itself. Established in 1986, the race was run as an amateur event in its first six years. In 1992, it became fully professional. From 2005, the race was organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour, and became part of the new UCI ProSeries The UCI ProSeries is the second tier men's elite road cycling tour. Almería (, , ) is a city and municipality of Spain, located in Andalusia. It is the capital of the province of the same name. It lies on southeastern Iberia on the Mediterranean Sea. Roquetas de Mar () is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, Spain. In 2016, the population was 91,965, the municipality with the second highest population in the province behind the capital, the 14th in Andalucía and the 69th in Spain. Geography and climate Roquetas de Mar has a hot semi-arid climate (Köppen: ''BSh'') with very mild winters and very hot and dry summers. Autumn is the wettest season although the city doesn't have a real wet season. During July and August, Roquetas de Mar has often southern winds coming from Africa, thus increasing the temperatures. Bryan Coquard (born 25 April 1992) is a French cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He was a silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Omnium. Career Youth and amateur career Coquard began cycling in 1999 at the age of seven, at the US Pontchâteau club. In September 2008, aged sixteen, he joined CREPS Bordeaux, where he was coached by Éric Vermeulen. In 2009, Coquard won the gold medal in the omnium at the UCI Juniors World Championships, as well as winning the scratch at the European championships. He retained his Junior Omnium crown in 2010, winning four of the six events, he also finished second in the Scratch Race. Nacer Bouhanni (born 25 July 1990) is a French professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . A sprinter, he was the winner of the 2012 French National Road Race Championships.
