2016 Brisbane International
The 2016 Brisbane International was a tournament of the 2016 ATP World Tour and 2016 WTA Tour. It was played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was the eighth edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson. It was held from 3 to 10 January 2016 as part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year. Tennyson is a southern riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Tennyson had a population of 1,019 people. Geography Tennyson is by road south-west of the Brisbane GPO. It is on the southern bank of the Brisbane River. Jerzy Filip Janowicz Jr. (; born 13 November 1990) is a Polish professional tennis player. Janowicz is best known for becoming the first Polish man to reach a major semifinal at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. Tobias Kamke (born 21 May 1986) is a German former professional tennis player. Oliver Anderson (born 30 April 1998) is an Australian tennis performance coach and former player. Anderson was convicted and temporarily suspended from playing professional tennis due to being found guilty of match fixing his first round match at the 2016 Latrobe City Traralgon ATP Challenger. Radek Štěpánek (; born 27 November 1978) is a Czech former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was world No. 8 and best doubles ranking was world No. 4. John-Patrick Tracey "JP" Smith (born 24 January 1989) is an Australian professional tennis player who competes mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour, both in singles and doubles. He attended the University of Tennessee from 2007 through 2011 where he was a four-time All-American and made it to the college No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles. James Duckworth (born 21 January 1992) is an Australian professional tennis player. He has a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles ranking of World No. 47 achieved on 8 November 2021 and No. 185 in doubles achieved on 10 February 2020. As a junior, Duckworth enjoyed a successful career which included winning three titles and reaching the semi-finals of the 2010 French Open.
