2016 Archery World Cup
The 2016 Archery World Cup is the 11th edition of the international archery circuit organised annually by the World Archery Federation. The preliminary stage consisted of three legs instead of the usual four, to make room for the Olympic archery tournament. The third leg was also the final Olympic qualification event. Competition rules and scoring The compound legs consisted of a 50 m qualification round of 72 arrows, followed by the compound round at 50 m on a 6-zone target face, using cumulative scoring for all individual, team and mixed competitions. The top seven individual performers (with no more than two from each country,) plus one host nation representative if not already qualified, proceeded to the finals; the top mixed team performer proceeded to face the host nation at the finals, which were the same competition format as the legs. Archery World Cup
The Archery World Cup is a competition, started in 2006, organized by the World Archery Federation, where the archers compete in four stages in four countries and the best eight archers of each category (from 2010, four archers during 2006-09) advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final. This form of competition was introduced following the success of the 2003 World Archery Championships in New York and the 2004 Summer Olympics with the intent of making the sport more popular and attractive to spectators, with the matches being held in 'spectacular' locations and the final matches being broadcast online. It has received plaudits for its innovative approach to the sport, raising its profile and reach. Brady Ellison
Brady Ellison (born October 27, 1988) is an American archer who competes in recurve archery. He is currently a Resident Athlete at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. He holds the record for the longest continuous period as the world number-one-ranked men's recurve archer, from August 2011 to April 2013. He earned his nickname "The Prospector" during the 2015 world championships due to his proclivity for 'finding gold'. Personal life As a child, Ellison suffered from Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease and wore leg braces for some time. He has had subsequent health issues with his knees, particularly in the lead-up to and during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and the fingers of his drawing hand. Mike Schloesser
Mike Schloesser (born 15 january 1994 in Heerlen, Netherlands) is a compound archer from Netherlands. He has won minet medals at the World Youth Archery Championships, competed in the Archery World Cup and in the 2013 World Archery Championships he qualified 5th in the same event. He also competed in the men's team compound and mixed team compound event for Netherlands. He won the gold medal in the men's individual compound event at the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus. Schloesser and Sanne de Laat also won the silver medal in the mixed team compound event. Ki Bo-bae
Ki Bo-bae (Hangul: 기보배; or ; born February 20, 1988) is a South Korean recurve archer and three-time Olympic gold medalist. She was the winner of the women's team and women's individual events at the 2012 Summer Olympics and of the women's team event again at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she also took bronze in the individual competition. Her tally of four Olympic medals places her among the most decorated archers in Olympic history. Ki was introduced to archery in primary school and by 2010 was a member of the South Korean national team. In addition to the Olympics she has achieved gold medals at the World Archery Championships - becoming the women's recurve world champion in 2015 - the Asian Games, and the Summer Universiade, and is a three-time winner at the Archery World Cup finals. Ksenia Vitalyevna Perova ( rus, Ксения Витальевна Перова, , ˈksʲenʲɪɪ̯ə pʲɪˈrovə; born 8 February 1989 in Lesnoy, Sverdlovsk Oblast) is a Russian female archer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed for her country in the Women's team event, and went on to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics as well. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she finished in 5th place in the individual, and 4th with the Russian women's team. Wu Jiaxin
Wu Jiaxin ( zh, s=吴佳欣, p=Wú Jiāxīn; born February 28, 1997) is a Chinese competitive archer. She has won a career total of two medals, a silver and a bronze, on her international archery debut at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Wuxi, and eventually finished as a quarter-finalist in the individual recurve tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Wu was selected to compete for the Chinese squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, shooting in both individual and team recurve tournaments. Choi Mi-sun
Choi Mi-sun (; born 1 July 1996) is a South Korean professional recurve archer. She won gold medal in the women's team event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Career 2015: Instant success Choi made her international debut in May 2015 at the opening stage of the 2015 Archery World Cup in Shanghai, finishing her first competition with a third place in the women's individual event. Sjef van den Berg (born 14 April 1995) is a retired Dutch competitive archer. He has won a total of two medals (a silver in the individual recurve and a bronze for the Dutch team) at the 2015 European Games, and eventually finished fourth in the men's individual archery at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Van der Berg currently trains at HBV Ontspanning in Sint-Oedenrode, under the tutelage of his coach Ron van der Hoff, a former Olympian at the Athens 2004 edition. Kim Woo-jin (Hangul: 김우진; or ; born June 20, 1992) is a South Korean archer specializing in recurve archery. He first held the world number one ranking ranking in 2011. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he set a world record in men's individual recurve archery and received a gold medal as a member of the South Korean men's archery team.
