2016 AFC U-23 Championship Squads
The following is a list of squads for each national team competing at the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship, The tournament took place during January 2016 in Qatar. It was the second U-23 age group competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation. As the tournament was not held during the FIFA International Match Calendar, clubs were not obligated to release the players. Each team had to submit 23 players in their national team squads. 2016 AFC U-23 Championship
The 2016 AFC U-23 Championship (also known as the 2016 AFC U-23 Asian Cup) was the second edition of the AFC U-23 Championship, the biennial international age-restricted football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. The tournament was held in Qatar between 12–30 January 2016. A total of 16 teams compete in the tournament. The tournament was also renamed from the "AFC U-22 Championship" to the "AFC U-23 Championship". For the first time, the AFC U-23 Championship acted as the AFC qualifiers for the Olympic football tournament, replacing the previous process of home-and-away Olympic qualifiers. The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Brazil as the AFC representatives. Akram Hassan Afif Yahya Afif Al Yafei ( ar, أكرم عفيف; born 18 November 1996) is a Qatari professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd and the Qatar national team. Early in his career, he was considered to be one of the most promising players to emerge from Qatar. Muhannad Naim
Muhannad Naim (born 28 January 1993) is a Qatari-Palestinian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He also currently plays for the Qatar U-21 national team as their first choice goalkeeper, and he also plays for the Qatar Olympic (U-23) team. Career Muhannad Naim first started playing football at the age of eight. He played in Al Khor's youth team as a teenager, but later joined Al Sadd's senior team in 2009 in what was supposed to be a temporary loan. He participated in the ASPIRE U-19 tournament held in Doha in April 2012. Bassam Hisham Ali Al-Rawi ( ar, بسام هشام الراوي; born 16 December 1997) is a Qatari professional footballer who plays as a defender for Al-Duhail and the Qatar national football team. Almoez Ali Zainalabedeen Mohamed Abdulla ( ar, المعز علي زين العابدين محمد عبد الله; born 19 August 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Qatar Stars League side Al-Duhail, whom he captains.
