2015–16 Colchester United F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Colchester United F.C., Colchester United's 79th season in their history and their eighth consecutive season in Football League One, League One, the third tier of Football in England, English football. Along with competing in League One, the club will also participate in the FA Cup, Football League Cup, League Cup and Football League Trophy. The club suffered relegation to Football League Two, League Two, the fourth tier of English football, for the first time in 18-years after finishing the season in 23rd position and in the relegation zone. Colchester made an early exit in the League Cup at the hands of Reading F.C., Reading, while they made the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time in ten years but were defeated by Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Tottenham Hotspur 4–1. Colchester ( ) is a city in Essex, in the East of England. It had a population of 122,000 in 2011. The demonym is Colcestrian. Colchester occupies the site of Camulodunum, the first major city in Roman Britain and its first capital. Colchester therefore claims to be Britain's first city. It has been an important military base since the Roman era, with Colchester Garrison currently housing the 16th Air Assault Brigade. Situated on the River Colne, Colchester is northeast of London. The city is connected to London by the A12 road and the Great Eastern Main Line railway. Colchester is less than from London Stansted Airport and from the port of Harwich.
