Thialf
Thialf is an ice arena in Heerenveen, Netherlands. Thialf consists of the Thialf-hal (a 12,500-capacity speed skating venue) and the Elfstedenhal (a 2,500-capacity ice hockey venue). Thialf is used for long track speed skating, short track speed skating, ice hockey, figure skating, ice speedway, and non-sporting events. The outdoor rink was opened in 1967, and the indoor stadium was opened in 1986. Several world records have been set in the indoor stadium. Annually, Thialf hosts two Speed Skating World Cup events. Jan de Jong was the ice rink master at Thialf for many years. History Thialf is named after Thialfi, a character in Norse mythology, who was Thor's servant and had to race a giant. Kim Bo-reum (Hangul: 김보름, born 6 February 1993) is a South Korean speed skater. She is the current South Korean record holder in the women's long track speed skating 3000 and 5000 metres. (born 2 July 1992) is a Japanese former speed skater who is a member of the Nidec Sankyo speed skating team. Career Takagi has won a pair of silver medals at the World Junior Speed Skating Championships, in two team pursuit events. She made her World Cup debut in November 2013. As of September 2014, Takagi has one World Cup podium finish, as part of the Japanese team pursuit squad at Heerenveen in 2013–14. Her best individual finish is 5th in a 5000 m race at Astana in 2013–14. Her best overall finish in the World Cup is 14th, in the 2013–14 mass start. is a Japanese speed skater. Biography Kikuchi won bronze at the 2011 Asian Speed Skating Championships and silver at the 2012 Asian Speed Skating Championships. With these results she qualified for the World Allround Speed Skating Championships in both 2011 (finished 22nd) and 2012 (finished 19th). Ida Njåtun (; born 6 February 1991) is a Norwegian speed skater specialising in the 1500 and 3000 metres distances. She represents the club Asker SK. Njåtun won her first medal at a Norwegian senior championship in 2008 (then aged 16), and became Norwegian allround champion in 2011.
