2015 World Rowing Championships
The 2015 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 30 August to 6 September 2015 at Lac d'Aiguebelette, Aiguebelette in France. Description The annual week-long rowing regatta was organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). In non-Olympic years the regatta is the highlight of the international rowing calendar, and as 2015 was a pre-Olympic year, the championships were also the main qualification event for the following year's Olympics and Paralympics. For the first time, Rowing New Zealand started in all (14) Olympic boat classes. Lac D'Aiguebelette
Lac d'Aiguebelette is a natural lake in the commune of Aiguebelette-le-Lac, within the department of Savoie, France. Geography Description With a surface area of 5.45 km2 and a depth of 71 meters it is one of the largest natural lakes of France. It is noted for its blue-green colour and the seven hot water springs. The communities of Novalaise, Lépin-le-Lac, Saint-Alban-de-Montbel and Aiguebelette-le-Lac border west side of the lake, whilst the Chaîne de l'Épine ridge lies to the east with its high point at Mont Grêle (). At the southern end there are two islands, ''La Petite Ile'' and ''La Grande Ile'' which has a chapel. Competing in the single sculls he won six medals at the European and world championships between 2007 and 2015, including three European gold medals. Cameron Girdlestone
Cameron Girdlestone (born 29 April 1988) is an Australian representative rower. He is a five-time Australian national champion, a medalist at World Championships, a dual Olympian and an Olympic silver and bronze medallist. He raced in the Australian men's quad scull at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to a bronze medal. Personal Girdlestone was born in Sydney and attended Samuel Gilbert Primary school. He took up rowing at high school at The King's School, Parramatta. He is a PDHPE teacher at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Karsten Forsterling
Karsten Forsterling (born 21 January 1980) is an Australian former representative rower. He was a national champion, world champion, a dual Olympian and Olympic medal winner. He represented Australia at eight senior world rowing championships between 2002 and 2019 in both sculling and sweep oared boats. Education Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Forsterling was schooled at St Vincent's Primary in the ACT and took up rowing in high school at the Melbourne Grammar School. He graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with a B.Engineering in 2001, and at one time worked for the multinational consulting firm AECOM. Club and state rowing Forsterling rowed from the Melbourne University Boat Club with whom he has had a long association. David Crawshay
David William Crawshay (born 11 August 1979) is an Australian former rower, an eleven-time national champion, an Olympic champion and medalist at World Championships. He represented Australia in rowing at three consecutive Olympic games from Athens 2004 to London 2012. Club and state rowing Born in Carlton, Victoria, Crawshay attended Melbourne Grammar School. His senior rowing has been with the Mercantile Rowing Club based on the Yarra River in Melbourne. Lauritz Schoof
Lauritz Schoof (born 7 October 1990 in Rendsburg) is a German rower. He was part of the German crew that won the gold medal in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He also successfully defended the quadruple sculls title at the 2016 Rio Olympics as part of the German team. Career Schoof was successful at junior and under-23 level, winning a silver medal at the World Junior Championships in the men's quadruple sculls (with Mario Jadatz, Christopher Schang and Bastian Bechler), and gold in the junior men's double sculls with Martin Menger, as well as winning gold in the single sculls at the 2009 U23 World Championship. Christopher Harris (born 19 October 1985) in Durban, South Africa is a New Zealand rower. Harris started rowing while at Whanganui High School. He competed at the 2012 Olympics in the men's four, and the boat came fifth in the B final. He won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships. At the 2017 New Zealand rowing nationals at Lake Ruataniwha, he partnered with Robbie Manson in the men's double sculls and they became national champions. Robert Manson (born 11 October 1989) is a New Zealand rower. Manson was born in 1989. He is from a family of rowers, with his father Greg the singles lightweight national champion in 1985, and his brother Karl also competing internationally. He won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships. At the 2017 New Zealand rowing nationals at Lake Ruataniwha, he partnered with Chris Harris in the men's double sculls and they became national champions. Manson also became single sculls national champion, aided by the absence of both Mahé Drysdale and Hamish Bond.
