2015 Surabaya Mayoral Election
A mayoral election was held in Surabaya on 9 December 2015, as part of the 2015 simultaneous local elections across Indonesia. The incumbent mayor, Tri Rismaharini, popularly known as Risma, was running for re-election against the former Provincial Secretary of East Java, Rasiyo. Risma won by a landslide margin of over 70%. Tri Rismaharini
Tri Rismaharini (born 20 November 1961) is an Indonesian politician who is the current Minister of Social Affairs. Popularly known as Risma, she is both the first directly-elected and first female to be the Mayor of Surabaya. She is one of the leaders in the central executive board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. Education She earned a bachelor's degree in Architecture and a master's degree in Urban Development Management from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. She was awarded a doctoral degree from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in 2015. Career Public service Risma began her career as a low-ranking public servant in Surabaya. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia ( id, Mahkamah Konstitusi Republik Indonesia) is one of the apex courts in Indonesia along with the Indonesian Supreme Court. Soekarwo (born 16 June 1950), popularly known as Pakde Karwo or Uncle Karwo, is an Indonesian politician and former governor of East Java. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle ( id, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, PDI-P) is an Indonesian political party, and the party of the current President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The PDI-P was founded and is currently led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, president of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004, and daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia.
