2015 Polish Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Poland on 10 and 24 May 2015. In the first round of voting Law and Justice (PiS) candidate, lawyer and Member of the European Parliament, Andrzej Duda received the greatest number of votes with a share of 34.76%, followed by incumbent president Bronisław Komorowski (with 33.77%), who ran as an independent with the endorsement of the Civic Platform (PO), which he had renounced his membership in after winning the 2010 elections. Independent candidate Paweł Kukiz came third with 20.80% of the votes. As no candidate had received more than 50% of the votes cast, a second round was held on 24 May between the two highest-placed candidates, Duda and Komorowski. Andrzej Duda
Andrzej Sebastian Duda (; born 16 May 1972) is a Polish lawyer and politician who has served as president of Poland since 6 August 2015. Before becoming president, Andrzej Duda was a member of Polish Lower House (Sejm) from 2011 to 2014 and the European Parliament from 2014 to 2015. Andrzej Duda was the presidential candidate for the Law and Justice party (PiS), during the 2015 Polish presidential election, 2015 presidential election in May 2015. In the first round of voting, Andrzej Duda received 5,179,092 votes – 34.76% of valid votes. Polish People's Party
The Polish People's Party ( pl, Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe, PSL) is an agrarian political party in Poland. It is currently led by Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. Its history traces back to 1895, when it held the name People's Party, although its name was changed to the present one in 1903. During the Second Polish Republic, the Polish People's Party was represented by a number of parties that held its name. They were all supportive of agrarian policies, although they spanned from the left-wing to the centre-right on the political spectrum. Jacek Wilk
Jacek Wilk (born 17 August 1974 in Kocina, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship) is a Polish barrister, economist and politician. He was the official candidate of the Congress of the New Right party for the office of President of Poland in the 2015 Polish presidential elections after resigning from supporting its quitting member Janusz Korwin-Mikke. In the first round he received 0.46% of votes, which gave him the tenth place among the candidates. In 2015, he was elected to Sejm, starting from the Kukiz15 lists in the Warsaw I constituency. Paweł Tanajno
Paweł Jan Tanajno (born December 19, 1975) is a Polish entrepreneur and politician. He studied law at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and holds a degree in marketing. From 1995 to 2004 he ran a computer company Sferis. He was also a member of foundations and a member of board of three other companies. He works as internet marketing specialist. From 2002 to 2003, Tanajno was a member of Civic Platform. He collaborated with Palikot's Movement but ended it due to financial inconsistencies in the party. He became a member of Direct Democracy in 2012 and served as party's spokesperson. Tanajno was DB's candidate in May 2015 presidential election. Janusz Marian Palikot (; born 26 October 1964) is a Polish politician, activist and businessman. Palikot studied philosophy and became wealthy as a businessman who dealt with crates and distilled beverages (dealt with international trade with tax havens in the Polish privatization period). He was elected to Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm on 25 September 2005 in the Lublin (parliamentary constituency), 6 Lublin district, running on the Civic Platform list, and was re-elected in 2007. Democratic Left Alliance
The Democratic Left Alliance () was a social-democratic political party in Poland. It was formed in 9 July 1991 as an electoral alliance of centre-left parties, and became a single party on 15 April 1999. It was the major coalition party in Poland between 1993 and 1997, and between 2001 and 2005, from which came four Prime ministers: Józef Oleksy, Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz, Leszek Miller and Marek Belka. Magdalena Agnieszka Ogórek (; born 23 February 1979) is a Polish TV presenter and politician. In 2015 she was a presidential candidate of Democratic Left Alliance. The Lower Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik ( pl, Sejmik Województwa Dolnośląskiego) is the regional legislature of the Voivodeship of Lower Silesia in Poland. It is a unicameral legislature consisting of thirty-six councillors chosen during local elections with a five-year term. The current chairperson of the assembly is Andrzej Jaroch. National Movement ( pl, Ruch Narodowy, RN) is an ultranationalist political party in Poland. It is led by Robert Winnicki. It was founded in 2012 as an organization, and in 2014 it was registered as a political party. It is a part of the Confederation Liberty and Independence, and it currently has 5 members in the Sejm.
