2015 Little League World Series
The 2015 in baseball, 2015 Little League World Series was held in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, from August 21 until August 30, 2015. Eight teams from the United States and eight from throughout the world competed in the 69th edition of the tournament. The Tokyo Kitasuna Little League from Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, defeated Red Land Little League of Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, in the championship game, 18–11, which was the most total runs scored (29) in any final game. It was Japan's fourth title in the past six years. The tournament was originally scheduled to begin on August 20, however, inclement weather resulted in the postponement of all first-day games, resulting in eight games being played on August 21, a LLWS first. Little League World Series In Canada
Little League Baseball has been played in Canada since 1951. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia were the first leagues outside the United States. Approximately 500 leagues now operate in Canada, making it the second-largest country in Little League participation. In 1952, Montreal, Quebec was the first foreign entry in the Little League World Series. In 1953, Little Mountain Little League of Vancouver advanced to the World Series as representative of the Western Region. Little League World Series In Japan
Japan first participated in the Little League World Series in 1962. Between 1962 and 2000, Japan participated in the Far East Region of the LLWS. In 2001, the Far East Region was divided into the Asia Region and the Pacific Region. From 2001 to 2006, Japan competed in the Asia Region. In 2007, the Japan Region was created, so that the winner of the Japanese championship receives an automatic berth in the Series. The region's participation in the LLWS dates back to 1957, when it was known as the South Region. Europe first participated in the Little League World Series in . Teams from Europe were given a berth in the LLWS each year between 1960 and 2000 (with the exception of the temporary ban of international teams in ). In 2001, the region was split into two co-terminus regions: Europe (later EMEA) Region and Transatlantic Region. The Europe Region comprised mostly native European teams while the Transatlantic Region comprised mostly American expatriates. The Caribbean Region is a region that competes in the Little League World Series. The Caribbean region was first given an automatic berth in 2001. Prior to 2001, Caribbean teams competed for a berth in the LLWS in the Latin American region. A team from Curaçao won the first nine Caribbean championships, until 2010.
