Independence Stadium (Shreveport)
Independence Stadium is a stadium owned by the city of Shreveport, Louisiana and is the home of the Independence Bowl. Formerly known as State Fair Stadium and Fairgrounds Stadium, it is the site of the annual Independence Bowl post-season college football game, initially (1976 in sports, 1976) the ''Bicentennial Bowl''. Before that, it was the home venue of the Shreveport Steamer of the short-lived World Football League (1974–75). It also served as a neutral site for the annual Arkansas–LSU football rivalry from 1924 to 1936. The 1924 game featured a silver football trophy as part of the dedication ceremonies for the new stadium. The stadium is also host to numerous high school football games and soccer matches, since many schools in Shreveport lack an on-campus facility. The 2015 Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team represented the University of Tulsa during the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by first-year head coach Philip Montgomery and played their home games at Skelly Field at H. A. Chapman Stadium. They were second year members of the American Athletic Conference in the Western Division. D'Angelo Brewer
D'Angelo Brewer (born January 6, 1996) is an American football player. Early years Brewer was born in 1996 in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Samuel Cotton and Keyatta Stampley. He attended Central High School (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. College career Brewer joined the Tulsa football team in 2014. He gained 837 rushing yards as a sophomore in 2015 and 1,435 as a junior in 2016. On September 24, 2016, he rushed for 252 yards against Fresno State. As a senior, he gained 262 rushing yards against 2017 Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns football team, Louisiana–Lafayette on September 9. During the 2017 regular season, Brewer ranked fifth among all Division I FBS players with 1,517 rushing yards. The 2012 Liberty Bowl was a college football postseason bowl game held on December 31, 2012, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. The 54th edition of the Liberty Bowl began at 2:30 p.m. CST and aired on ESPN. It featured the Iowa State Cyclones from the Big 12 Conference against the Conference USA champion Tulsa Golden Hurricane. It was the final game of the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season for both teams. With sponsorship from AutoZone, the game was officially the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The Golden Hurricane advanced to the game by virtue of winning the 2012 Conference USA Football Championship Game, while the Cyclones were also bowl-eligible due to their 6–6 regular-season record.
