Mohammad Manjur Alam
Mohammad Manjur Alam aka M. Manjur Alam ( bn, এম. মনজুর আলম) is a Bangladeshi politician and businessman. He is the former Mayor of Chittagong and managing director of Mostafa-Hakim Group. Political career Alam was elected Councillor of North Kattali Ward on 30 January 1994 with the support of Bangladesh Awami League. He was re-elected twice with the support of Awami League. After ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury was imprisoned by the Caretaker Government during the 2007-2008 Bangladeshi political crises, Alam became the acting mayor. During that time Alam's relationship with Mohiuddin deteriorated. Alam sought the nomination of Bangladesh Nationalist Party to contest the 9th parliamentary election from Chittagong-8. Islami Andolan Bangladesh ( bn, ইসলামী আন্দোলন বাংলাদেশ, lit=Islamic Movement of Bangladesh) is one of the biggest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1987 by Fazlul Karim as Islami Shashontantra Andolan (Islamic Constitutional Movement), and took its current name in 2008. Its student wing is Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামী, Bānglādēsh Jāmāyatē Islāmī, Bangladesh Islamic Assembly), previously known as Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, or Jamaat for short, was the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh.
