2015 Berlin Film Festival
The 65th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 5 to 15 February 2015, with American film director Darren Aronofsky as the President of the Jury. German film director Wim Wenders was presented with the Honorary Golden Bear. The first seven films of the festival were announced on 15 December 2014. Isabel Coixet's ''Nobody Wants the Night'' was announced as the opening film. The Iranian drama film ''Taxi'', directed by Jafar Panahi, won the Golden Bear, which also served as the closing film of the festival. For the first time in 2015, a "Berlin Critics' Week" ran parallel to the official festival. Similar to International Critics' Week at the Cannes festival, Berlin Critics' Week (alternatively referred to as "Critics' Week Berlin") is a sidebar run by the German Film Critics Association and screens arthouse films. Endless Night (2015 Film)
''Endless Night'' ( es, Nadie quiere la noche) is a 2015 drama film directed by Isabel Coixet. It was selected to open the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. The film is set in 1908 in Greenland and is an international co-production between Spain, France and Bulgaria. The film premiered with the title ''Nobody Wants the Night''. Following poor reviews and sales the film was recut by Coixet and released under the title ''Endless Night''. Plot Greenland, 1908. Josephine Peary, Josephine, the confident and bold wife of the famous Arctic explorer, Robert Peary, embarks on a dangerous journey in pursuit of her husband who is seeking a route to the North Pole. International Critics' Week
The International Critics' Week (french: Semaine de la Critique) was founded in 1962 and is organized by the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics. It was created following the showing of '' The Connection'' directed by Shirley Clarke which had been organized by the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics for the 1961 Cannes Film Festival. It is the oldest parallel non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival. It showcases first and second feature films by directors from all over the world, and has remained true to its tradition of discovering new talents. Madhusree Dutta is an Indian filmmaker, author and curator. Life and education Madhusree Dutta was born in the industrial town of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand (then Bihar). She has studied Economics at Jadavpur University, Kolkata and Dramatics at National School of Drama, New Delhi. In 1987 Dutta shifted her base to Mumbai (called Bombay in 1987). Halil Altındere (born in 1971 in Mardin, lives in Istanbul) is a contemporary artist. His work includes video, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, as well as collaborative editorial and curatorial projects. Joshua Lincoln Oppenheimer (born September 23, 1974) is an American-British film director based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
