2015 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship
The 2015 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship was the eighteenth edition of the Asian Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA). The tournament was held in Tianjin, China from 20 to 28 May 2015. Qualification If there were fewer than 16 teams applied for participation, all teams compete in the tournament. If there were more than 16 teams applied for participation, participated teams would be determined by: – The host nation – Top 10 ranked teams from the previous edition – Representatives from each of the five Asian Volleyball Confederation Zonal Associations Qualified teams Pools composition The teams were seeded based on their final ranking at the 2013 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. Zhang Changning
Zhang Changning (; born 6 November 1995) is a Chinese indoor volleyball and beach volleyball player. She is a member of China women's national volleyball team. At the club level, she plays for Jiangsu Zenith Steel. Personal life She was born in Changzhou and raised in Nanjing. She is the daughter of Zhang Yousheng, a former player of China men's national volleyball team, and Jiang Hanqiu, a college physical education teacher. The Asian Men's Volleyball Championship was the eighteenth staging of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF). The tournament was held in Tehran, Iran from 31 July to 8 August 2015. Qualification If there are not more than 16 teams, all teams will compete in the tournament. If there are more than 16 teams, participating teams are: – The host nation – Top 10 ranked teams from the previous edition – Representatives from each of the five Asian Volleyball Confederation Zonal Associations There are 17 teams applied for the competition. Nam Jie-youn (born May 25, 1983 in Seoul) is a former South Korean volleyball player, who played as a libero. She was a member of the Women's National Team. She plays for Hwaseong IBK Altos. She was part of the silver medal winning team at the 2010 Asian Games. At the end of the 2017-18 season, she announced her retirement of the courts. She is currently the press officer of Hwaseong IBK Altos. Pleumjit Thinkaow ( th, ปลื้มจิตร์ ถินขาว; ; born 9 November 1983) is a Thai volleyball player. She was a member of the Thailand women's national volleyball team. Her international debut was at the 21st SEA Games in Malaysia. Personal life Pleumjit grew up in a sport-loving family in Angthong (a province about 100 km. north of Bangkok), having an elder brother. Her parents are civil servants. Kim Yeon-koung
Kim Yeon-Koung (, ; born 26 February 1988) is a South Korean professional volleyball player and a former member of the FIVB Athletes' Commission. She is an outside hitter and the former captain of the South Korean National Team. She announced her retirement from the national team in August 2021. Kim signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe in 2011 after playing for Heungkuk Life in South Korea for four seasons and JT Marvelous in Japan for two seasons. "Jenny" Lang Ping (; born 10 December 1960) is a Chinese former volleyball player and the current head coach of China's women's national volleyball team. She is the former head coach of the United States women's national volleyball team. As a player, Lang won the most valuable player award in women's volleyball at the 1984 Olympics. In 2002, Lang became an inductee of the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Massachusetts. She coached the U.S. women's national team to a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in her home country. Yan Ni (; born 2 March 1987) is a Chinese retired volleyball player who won the gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics. On club level, she played for Liaoning. She announced her retirement from volleyball in November 2021. Ding Xia (, born 13 January 1990) is a Chinese volleyball player. She is the main setter of the China women's national volleyball team and has been representing the team in international competitions since 2014. At the club level, she plays for the Liaoning Brilliance Auto, Liaoning provincial team, which she has captained since 2013.
