2014–15 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2014–15 American Athletic Conference men's basketball season took place between November 2014 and March 2015. Practices began in October 2014, with conference play beginning in December, and the season ended with the 2015 American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament. The season was the second since the split of the original Big East Conference into two separate leagues. This was the first season for East Carolina, Tulane, and Tulsa in American Athletic competition. NCAA
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Steve Masiello
Stephen John Masiello Jr. (born September 2, 1977) is an American college basketball coach and a former player. He most recently served as men's head coach at Manhattan College. Masiello is a native of White Plains, New York. He graduated from Iona Grammar School in 1991 and attended Archbishop Stepinac High School for two years before transferring to the Harvey School in Katonah. Masiello played collegiately as a Walk-on (sports), walk-on at Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball, Kentucky for coaches Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith from 1996 to 2000. XL Center
The XL Center (originally known as the Hartford Civic Center) is a multi-purpose arena and convention center located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Owned by the City of Hartford, it is managed by the quasi-public Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) under a lease with the city and operated by Spectra. John Wooden Award
The John R. Wooden Award is an award given annually to the most outstanding men's and women's college basketball players. The program consists of the men's and women's Player of the Year awards, the Legends of Coaching award, and recognizing the All–America Teams. The awards, given by the Los Angeles Athletic Club, are named in honor of John Wooden, the 1932 national collegiate basketball player of the year from Purdue. Wooden later taught and coached men's basketball at Indiana State and UCLA. Coach Wooden, whose teams at UCLA won ten NCAA championships, was the first man to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player and coach. Naismith College Player Of The Year
The Naismith College Player of the Year is an annual basketball award given by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to the top men's and women's collegiate basketball players. It is named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball. History and selection First awarded exclusively to male players in 1969, the award was expanded to include female players in 1983. Annually before the college season begins in November, a "watchlist" consisting of 50 players is chosen by the Atlanta Tipoff Club board of selectors, comprising head coaches, administrators and media members from across the United States. By February, the list of nominees is narrowed down to 30 players based on performance. In March, four out of the 30 players are selected as finalists and are placed in the final ballot. Quenton DeCosey
Quenton D. DeCosey Jr. (born August 8, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He played for Temple University men's basketball for four years before turning professional in 2016. High school career DeCosey, a native of Union, New Jersey attended St. Joseph High School, a Catholic all-boys school in Metuchen, New Jersey. Will Cummings (born October 7, 1992) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C. of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for Temple. High school career Cummings, a point guard from Jacksonville, Florida, committed to play for Temple on September 4, 2010. Amida Brimah
Amida Abiola Brimah (born February 11, 1994) is a Ghanaian professional basketball player for JL Bourg of the French LNB Pro A. He played college basketball for the UConn Huskies. College career Brimah was on the Huskies' 2013–14 NCAA Championship team. In the first round of the tournament, vs St. Joe's, UConn trailed 67–70 with 39 seconds remaining when Brimah rebounded a missed shot and converted a 3 point play to send the game to overtime; UConn ultimately won the game in overtime. James Woodard (born January 24, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Hamburg Towers of the German Basketball Bundesliga. He played college basketball at Tulsa from 2012 to 2016. Markus Kennedy (born August 3, 1991) is an American basketball player who last played for San Severo of the Serie A2 Basket. He competed in college for Villanova and SMU. Robert Austin Nichols (born September 20, 1994) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the University of Memphis and the University of Virginia. Early years Nichols attended Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, Tennessee. While there, he was a four-time letterwinner and helped lead his team to the state championship game.
