Sir Run Run Shaw (19 November 1907 – 7 January 2014), also known as Shao Yifu and Siu Yat-fu, was a Hong Kong entertainment mogul and philanthropist. He was one of the most influential figures in the Asian entertainment industry. He founded the Shaw Brothers Studio, one of the largest film production companies in Hong Kong, and TVB, the dominant television company in Hong Kong. A well-known philanthropist, Shaw donated billions of Hong Kong dollars to educational institutions in Hong Kong and mainland China. More than 5,000 buildings on Chinese college campuses bear his name, as does Shaw College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Executive Council of Hong Kong (ExCo) is the cabinet of the Government of Hong Kong, acting as a formal body of advisers to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong that serves as a core policy-making organ assisting the Chief Executive. It is analogous to other Executive Councils in the Commonwealth such as the Federal Executive Council of Australia, the Executive Council of New Zealand, and the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. Jimmy McGregor
Sir James David McGregor (30 January 1924 – 14 July 2014) was Hong Kong colonial government official and a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for the Commercial (First) functional constituency from 1988 to 1995 and non-official member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong from 1995 to 1997. He was also the long-time director of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Early life, civil service and business career McGregor was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 30 January 1924 and was educated at the Dux Boy Aberhill H.G. School. He was the Chief Manager of the Bank of East Asia, his family business, and also unofficial member of the Executive and Legislative Councils of Hong Kong. Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK, , aka Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Limited is one of the two commercial radio broadcasting companies in Hong Kong along with Metro Radio Hong Kong. CRHK provides an array of entertainment, including informative, educational, artistical and cultural programmes; CRHK also provides updates on current affairs as well as news and weather reports. Commercial Television (CTV; ) was the third free-to-air broadcast television station in Hong Kong. It first went on air in 1975, and ceased transmissions in 1978. George Ho Cho-chi, GBS, OBE, JP (3 November 1919 – 4 June 2014) was a Hong Kong media mogul. The fifth son of the influential businessman Robert Hotung, George Ho was the founder of the Commercial Radio Hong Kong and Commercial Television. Family and career George Ho was the illegitimate son of Robert Hotung, then the most influential Eurasian compradore in Hong Kong, and Kate Archer.
