Dutch Television
Television in the Netherlands was officially Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1951. In the Netherlands, the television market is divided between a number of commercial networks, such as RTL Nederland, and a system of public broadcasters sharing three channels, NPO 1, NPO 2, and NPO 3. Imported programmes (except those for children), as well as news interviews with responses in a foreign language, are almost always shown in their original language, with subtitles. Reception In the Netherlands, television can be watched analog or digital (the latter with the option of HDTV or Ultra-high-definition television, UHD). Over 2018, 89.2% of Dutch viewers received television digitally. Analogue television is only available via some cable operators and some fiber to the home providers, since the Dutch government ended analogue reception via airwaves in 2006. O'G3NE
OG3NE ( ) is a Dutch three-piece music group. The group is made up of sisters Lisa, Amy, and Shelley Vol, the latter two of the three being fraternal twins. In 2007, they represented the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song " Adem in, adem uit" ("Breathe In, Breathe Out"). On 19 December 2014, they were announced as the winners of season five of ''The Voice of Holland'', earning a recording contract with EMI. They became the first trio to win the competition on any international version of ''The Voice''. On 29 October 2016, it was announced that they would represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. On 2 March 2017, it was revealed that they would sing the song, " Lights and Shadows". They qualified from the semifinals and ultimately placed eleventh in the final, scoring 150 points. The Voice Of Holland (season 5)
The fifth season of the Dutch reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, created by media tycoon John de Mol, aired during 2014 on RTL4. Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk returned as co-hosts, while Jamai Loman replaced Winston Gerschtanowitz as host of the red room. Marco Borsato, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Ilse DeLange and Ali B returned as coaches. One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner. The Voice Of Holland
''The Voice of Holland'', also known as ''TVOH'', is a Dutch reality TV singing competition, that became a near global TV format franchise, created by media tycoon John de Mol and musician Roel van Velzen, in the Netherlands airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland was hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. Starting from the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk was replaced by Chantal Janzen. The central focus of the show is the singing talent and quality of the contestants. Three or four coaches / jurors, themselves successful performing artists, train the talents in their teams, and occasionally perform with them. After many preliminary off-screen audition rounds, the most promising talents are selected for the TV shows. NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. The division of the NOS responsible for gathering and broadcasting the news is known as ''NOS Nieuws'', and is based at the Media Park in Hilversum; the NOS also has fully equipped radio and television studios in The Hague, from which political programmes are often produced. ''Sesamstraat'' () is a Dutch television series in the Netherlands, and a spin-off of the U.S. children's program ''Sesame Street''. In its early days the show was broadcast in Flanders (Belgium) as well. It is the second longest-running foreign adaptation of ''Sesame Street'' without interruptions, behind only ''Sesamstraße''. Jeugdjournaal (; "youth news programme") is a Dutch television news programme produced by the Dutch public service broadcaster NOS for children. The programme has been on air since 1981. The main evening programme airs at 7:00 pm (CET), running for 20 minutes every night on NPO 3 (formerly Nederland 3). A 5-minute short version also airs on weekdays at 8:45 am. Both programmes are also broadcast on the international satellite Dutch-language television station BVN. Het Klokhuis
''Het Klokhuis'' ( Dutch for "The Applecore") is a daily documentary show for primary school children and young teenagers produced by ntr of the Netherlands. It first aired in 1988. It is broadcast every weekday at 18:25 on NPO 3 and lasts about 15 minutes. The subjects vary widely. Quite often, factories are visited, where a complete production process is explained. The serious parts are interspersed with sketches, which sometimes have aspects that only adults would understand, whilst still remaining funny for children. In 1990, there were plans to discontinue the show due to high costs, but after protests and questions asked in the Dutch parliament, it was decided to keep the show. In a later year, a bill was made to discontinue the production company, which endangered the show again. ''Goede tijden, slechte tijden'' (, ), also known as ''GTST'' or simply ''Goede tijden'', is the longest-running Dutch soap opera, which began on 1 October 1990 on RTL4. The programme was the first daily (every workday) soap in the Netherlands and Europe. The soap is produced by Joop van den Ende and to date over 6,300 episodes have been broadcast. It was inspired by the Australian soap ''The Restless Years'', although it started following its own course during the third season. GTST is broadcast Monday to Friday at 20:00. At its peak, around 1.5 million viewers watched each episode. Nowadays, the show is watched linearly by a total of 800.000 viewers, with an additional 300.000 viewers on streaming platform Videoland. X Factor (Dutch TV Series)
''X Factor'' was a Dutch television music talent show contested by aspiring pop singers drawn from public auditions. It was shown Friday evenings on the RTL4 Network in the Netherlands. The show aired between 2006 and 2013 and was produced by Blue Circle. The "X Factor" of the title refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality. ''X Factor'' replaced the highly successful '' Idols'', which was pulled from television after the third and fourth seasons. In the initial televised audition phase of the show, contestants sang in front of the ''X Factor'' judges in the hope of getting through to the "boot camp". After a further selection process, the judges were each given a category to mentor and the chosen finalists then progress to the second phase of the competition in which the public vote on live performances.
