2014 Ykkönen
The 2014 Ykkönen began on 27 April 2014 and ended on 4 October 2014. The winning team was directly promoted to the 2015 Veikkausliiga. The bottom two teams were relegated to Kakkonen. Overview A total of ten teams will contest in the league, including seven sides from the 2013 season, JJK who was relegated from Veikkausliiga and FC Jazz and HIFK who promoted from Kakkonen after winning the promotion play-offs. AC Kajaani and OPS were relegated from 2013 Ykkönen. SJK was promoted to the 2014 Veikkausliiga. Ykkönen
''Ykkönen'' (Finnish for 'Number One'; sv, Ettan) is the second highest level of the Finnish football league system (after the Veikkausliiga), although it is the highest league managed by the Football Association of Finland. The teams also play a pre-season league cup, the Ykköscup. History The first league format competition in the second level of Finnish football was called , which was founded in 1936. Before the inauguration of the , from 1930 to 1935, there had been special qualification matches for the right to play in the ''Mestaruussarja''. In the autumn of 1969, the Finnish football underwent a league system reform, and the was renamed ''II divisioona'', or 2nd Division, with regional sections. AC Oulu (ACO) is a Finnish football club based in Oulu. Formed in 2002, the club have played two seasons in Finland's highest football league Veikkausliiga and seven seasons in the second highest league Ykkönen. Vuosaari sports ground ( fi, Vuosaaren urheilukenttä, also known as Heteniitty) is a football and athletics ground in Vuosaari, Helsinki. It is the home ground of the East Helsinki football club FC Viikingit, who play in the Finnish first division (''Ykkönen''). The ground currently has a capacity of approximately 1,500 spectators, but it was expanded to 3,500 seats in the 2007 season, when Viikingit played in the Finnish premier division. Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho (or SJK Seinäjoki or SJK) is a Finnish professional football club from the city of Seinäjoki. The club plays in the Veikkausliiga, the highest tier of the Finnish league system. Their home ground is OmaSP Stadion, which is located near the city center and next to SJK's training facility Wallsport. SJK was formed in 2007 after the merger of TP-Seinäjoki and Sepsi-78. History The early years SJK was formed on 5 November 2007 as a merger between the first teams of TP-Seinäjoki and Sepsi-78. It was told to the public five days later. Sepsi-78 had a board meeting on 24 October and TP-Seinäjoki on the next day. Both clubs supported the merger. Sepsi-78 and TP both gave up their place in Kakkonen. AC Kajaani was a football club from Kajaani, Finland. The club was formed in 2006 after the merger of FC Tarmo and Kajaanin Palloilijat (KaPa). Their home ground was Kajaanin Liikuntapuisto. The men's football first team last played in the Ykkönen (the second highest level of football in Finland). The club dissolved in December 2020 following their relegation from the Ykkönen. History AC Kajaani was founded in 2006 by a merger of Kajaanin Palloilijat (KaPa -- "Kajaani Ballers") and FC Tarmo.
