2014 Web.com Tour
The 2014 Web.com Tour was the 25th season of the top developmental tour for the U.S. PGA Tour in men's golf, and the third under the current sponsored name of Web.com Tour. It ran from February 13 to September 21. The season consisted of 25 official money golf tournaments; six of which will be played outside of the United States. Carlos Ortiz won three times to earn promotion to the PGA Tour and was voted Web.com Tour Player of the Year. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2014 season. Carlos Ortiz (golfer)
Carlos Ortiz Becerra (born 24 April 1991) is a Mexican professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour. He won the 2020 Vivint Houston Open on the PGA Tour. He now plays in the LIV Golf League. Early life Ortiz was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He played college golf in the United States at the University of North Texas. At the 2011 Summer Universiade, he was on the team that won the bronze medal. He played in the Mexican team at the 2010 Eisenhower Trophy and again in 2012 where Mexico were runners-up. His younger brother Álvaro is a professional golfer who represented Mexico in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2014, 2016 and 2018 and won the 2019 Latin America Amateur Championship. El Bosque Mexico Championship
The Mexico Championship is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It was first played in May 2013 at the El Bosque Country Club in León, Mexico. The Mexican Open had been a Web.com Tour event from 2008 to 2012, and was played at El Bosque the last four of these years. Sebastian Cappelen
Sebastian Cappelen (born 14 April 1990) is a Danish professional golfer. Cappelen played college golf at the University of Arkansas where he was a four-time All-American and won four times including the 2013 SEC Championship. He also played for the European team in the Palmer Cup three times. After graduating, Cappelen turned professional in June 2014. He Monday qualified for the Air Capital Classic on the Web.com Tour, surviving a seven-man playoff for his spot in the tournament. In the tournament itself, Cappelen shot an 18-under-par 262 to beat Matt Weibring by one stroke. The win, the first by a Dane on the Web.com Tour, earned Cappelen his card for the rest of the 2014 season. Steven Craig Alker (born 28 July 1971) is a professional golfer from New Zealand who plays on the PGA Tour Champions, where he has won five events. He won the season-long 2022 Charles Schwab Cup on the PGA Tour Champions. Early life and professional career Alker was born in Hamilton, New Zealand. Alker turned professional in 1995 and has competed on several tours around the world. He has been a member of the PGA Tour of Australasia since 1995. He played on the European Tour in 1998 and 1999, also competing on Europe's developmental Challenge Tour in 1999. Byron Smith (golfer)
Byron Smith (born March 31, 1981) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. Smith was born in Palm Springs, California and attended Pepperdine University. He did not play golf during his last two years at Pepperdine but he turned professional in 2001. Smith first played on the Canadian Tour in 2005 but did not break through until 2007. In his 2007 Canadian Tour season, he won twice, recorded five top-10 finishes, earned over $89,000 in earnings and won the Order of Merit title. The Order of Merit title win gave Smith a five-year exemption on the Canadian Tour. After a winless 2008 season, Smith won his 3rd Canadian Tour event at the Times Colonist Open in 2009. John Maxwell Homa (born November 19, 1990) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. In college, he won the individual 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From 1992 to 2000, the event was played at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville. Blayne Barber
Blayne Barber (born December 25, 1989) is an American professional golfer. Barber was born in Tallahassee, Florida. He played college golf at University of Central Florida and Auburn University. At UCF, he was an All-American his freshman year. In his two years at Auburn, Barber was a two time All-SEC honoree and named to two All-American teams. He holds the record for the lowest career stroke average in Auburn golf history at 70.83. He won two events as a collegiate as well as the 2009 Florida State Amateur.
