2014 Rialto Channel New Zealand Film Awards
The 2014 Rialto Channel New Zealand Film Awards was the third presentation of the New Zealand Film Awards, a New Zealand film industry award. The 2014 ceremony took place in Shed 10 on Queen's Wharf in Auckland on Friday 12 December 2014. It was webcast live on the nzherald.co.nz website, and later broadcast on the Rialto Channel. Nominees and Winners Moas were awarded in 28 categories in three groups – features, documentaries and short films. The 2013 category of Best Technical Contribution to a Short Film was dropped, and the new category Best Visual Effects added for 2014. The awards were dominated by the feature film ''The Dark Horse'', which won six of its 13 nominated categories, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor. Ant Timpson
Ant Timpson (born 21 April 1966) is a New Zealand film producer best known for producing ''The ABCs of Death'' series, '' Turbo Kid'', ''Deathgasm'' and ''The Greasy Strangler''. He founded and hosts the 48Hours film contest. Career In 2003, Timpson founded the annual 48Hours film challenge, a New Zealand-based competition where teams of filmmakers create a short film in 48 hours. Taika Waititi and Te Radar won in the festival's first year. The film '' Turbo Kid'' originated as a submission for the "T" segment in '' ABCs of Death''. Though not selected, Timpson was impressed and approached the filmmakers to expand it into a feature. John Clarke (satirist)
John Morrison Clarke (29 July 1948 – 9 April 2017) was a New Zealand comedian, writer and satirist who lived and worked in Australia from the late 1970s. He was a highly regarded actor and writer whose work appeared on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in both radio and television and also in print. He is principally known for his character Fred Dagg and his long-running collaboration with fellow satirist Bryan Dawe, which lasted from 1989 to his death in 2017, as well as for his success as a comic actor in Australian and New Zealand film and television. Alun Bollinger
Alun Robert Bollinger (born 1948) is a New Zealand cinematographer, who has worked on several Peter Jackson films, and many other films in New Zealand. He has also been a Director of Photography, including the second unit for Peter Jackson's trilogy ''The Lord of the Rings''. He started as a trainee cine-camera operator for television with the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation in 1966. In the 2005 Queen's Birthday Honours, Bollinger was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to cinematography. ''Hip Hop-eration'' is a New Zealand documentary film about a dance troupe managed by communications consultant turned flash mob choreographer Billie Jordan on Waiheke Island in New Zealand. The dance troupe (called '' Hip Op-eration''), with an average age of nearly 80 among its members, decided to apply for the special exhibition category in the Las Vegas Hip Hop International championships of August 2013. Don McGlashan
Donald McGlashan (born 18 July 1959) is a New Zealand composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist who Is best known for membership in the bands Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn, and The Mutton Birds, before going solo. He has also composed for cinema and television. Among other instruments, McGlashan has played guitar, drums, euphonium and French horn. McGlashan has played with percussion group From Scratch, and bands The Bellbirds, The Plague, and composed pieces for New Zealand's Limbs Dance Company. Chad Taylor (1964) is a New Zealand writer. Life Chad Taylor is a New Zealand author of novels, short stories and screenplays. He was born in Auckland. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts.
