2014 Rally Poland
The 2014 LOTOS Rally Poland was the seventh round of the 2014 World Rally Championship season. The event was based in Mikołajki, Poland, and started on 27 June and finished on 29 June after 24 special stages, totaling 336.6 competitive kilometres. WRC Champion Sébastien Ogier won the Rally Poland for the first time in his career, taking his fifth victory of the 2014 season. Rally Poland
The Rally of Poland (in Polish, ''Rajd Polski'') is a motorsport event for rally cars that was first established in 1921. It is third-oldest rally in the world, preceded only by Österreichische Alpenfahrt and Monte Carlo Rally. The event became a permanent fixture of the European Rally Championship in 1960, except for a few editions held as part of the World Rally Championship. In 1973, the Rally of Poland was the one of the thirteen rounds of newly established World Rally Championship, but was removed from the 1974 calendar. After a move to Mikołajki in the Masurian Lake District in 2005, event organisers started lobbying for the event's inclusion as a round of the World Rally Championship. After being run as a candidate event in 2007 and 2008, Poland returned to the World Rally Championship in 2009, which was won by Mikko Hirvonen. Robert Józef Kubica (; born 7 December 1984) is a Poles, Polish racing driver, racing and rally driver, rally driver. He was the first and, , the only Polish racing driver to compete in Formula One. The Mini John Cooper Works WRC is a World Rally Car debuted by the Mini WRC Team during the 2011 World Rally Championship season. It is the first rally car to bear the Mini label in top-level rallying since the 1960s. The car was entered in a limited campaign for 2011, with a view to a complete championship from 2012 and was run by Prodrive, who previously had success with the Subaru Impreza WRC. The WRC is based on the Mini Countryman and features a direct-injection 1.6 L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. Eurolamp WRT (commonly known as just Eurolamp) is a Ukrainian rally team, currently competing in the World Rally Championship-2. Originally named MacCoffee Rally Team, the team was established in 2002 by Valeriy Gorban to compete in the Ukrainian Rally Championship, who entered a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX in the 2009 Rally Poland. Tomas Bernardo Rodrigues Sousa (born May 16, 1987) is a Portuguese rally driver. Born in Madeira, Portugal, and having previously competed in karting, Sousa began his rally career in 2006, competing in the Portuguese national championship. In 2008 he began competing in the Production World Rally Championship (P-WRC), a class of the World Rally Championship. He finished second in class on the 2008 Acropolis Rally, finishing the season ninth in the P-WRC standings. DMACK, the parent company of DMACK Holdings Ltd., is a Rovereto, Italy, based tyre manufacturer which started as a company based in Carlisle, United Kingdom. History DMACK was founded in 2008 by Dick Cormack to deliver smaller tyre sizes than the ones supplied by industry giants, such as Michelin and Goodyear, specifically for the rally market. Proposed UK factory DMACK worked with Lehman Lee & Xu, the British government, and local authorities in its plans to build a tyre factory near Carlisle, England. The facility was scheduled to be complete by the end of 2017. It was speculated that it could bring up to 500 jobs when production is up to full scale.
