2014 New Zealand Music Awards
The 2014 New Zealand Music Awards was the 49th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical recording artists based in or originating from New Zealand. It took place on 20 November 2014 at Vector Arena in Auckland. The awards show was screened on channel Four, the first time the event was broadcast live. The technical award winners, legacy award recipient and the Critics' Choice Prize shortlist were announced on 16 October at the Pullman hotel, Auckland. The Critics Choice showcase and award presentation were held on 29 October at the King's Arms in Auckland. The awards were dominated by Lorde, who won six awards, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Female Solo Artist, Best Pop Album, Highest Selling Single and the International Achievement Award. Hearts Like Ours
"Hearts Like Ours" is the first single from ''In Rolling Waves'', the second studio album from New Zealand post-punk revival band The Naked and Famous. The song, which is also the sixth single from the ensemble, premiered 23 July 2013 on BBC Radio 1 as Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World Today”. The video was released on YouTube on 29 July 2013. David Dallas
David Keith Dallas (born 28 August 1982) is a hip hop artist from New Zealand of Samoan and European descent. Early career Dallas began his rapping career under the name Con Psy as a part of the duo Frontline, a producer and MC group along with producer Nick Maclaren. In 2003 he appeared in Scribe's popular single, ''Not Many – The Remix!''. Frontline released their official debut album 'Borrowed Time', in October 2005. "Bridges" is a song by New Zealand band Broods, from their debut self-titled extended play. It was released as the band's first single by Dryden Street Records, Island Records Australia and Universal Music Australia on 3 January 2014. It is also included on their debut studio album, ''Evergreen'' (2014). Background and composition "Bridges" was written by Broods members Caleb and Georgia Nott and Joel Little. Georgia Nott conceived the song and recorded a demo, which was embellished by Little. "Bridges" is an indie pop and synthpop song, and contains piano and synth instrumentation. Broods
Broods is a New Zealand musical duo from Nelson, composed of Georgia Josiena Nott on lead vocals, with older brother and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Allan Joseph Nott on production and backing vocals. They released the single "Bridges", which went to No. 8 on the New Zealand singles chart, and signed with Capitol and Polydor Records. Karoline Fuarose Park-Tamati (born 7 November 1982), known professionally as Ladi6, is a New Zealand recording artist of Samoan descent. She spent six months living in Berlin and touring Europe in both 2010 and 2011. The Naked and Famous are a New Zealand indie electronic band from Auckland, formed in 2007. The band currently consists of Alisa Xayalith (vocals, keyboards) and Thom Powers (vocals, guitars).
