2014 European Mixed Curling Championship
The 2014 European Mixed Curling Championship was held from September 13 to 20 at the Tårnby Curling Club in Tårnby, Denmark. Sweden, skipped by Patric Mabergs, won their first European Mixed title after defeating Norway, skipped by Steffen Walstad, with a score of 9–2. Tårnby
Tårnby () is a town in Denmark, the seat of Tårnby Municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark. It is located approximately south of central Copenhagen on the island of Amager. Neighbouring settlements include the Copenhagen suburb of Sundbyvester to the north and Kastrup to the south. Copenhagen Airport is situated to the east of Tårnby. It includes the islets Saltholm and Peberholm. History There's no clear date for the founding of Tårnby, but archaeological expeditions prior to the building of the Øresund Bridge suggest that the first traces of Tårnby originated around the 12th century around a farm from which the village grew. In the 16th century, Danish King Christian II invited Dutch settlers to Amager. That made Tårnby, like the neighbouring city of Dragør, also have some traces of Dutch history and culture. Madeleine Dupont
Madeleine Kanstrup Dupont (born 26 May 1987 in Glostrup, Denmark) is a Danish curler from Copenhagen. She won the Frances Brodie Award in 2004. She currently skips her own team with teammates Mathilde Halse, Denise Dupont (Madeleine's sister), and My Larsen. Dupont has competed in three Olympic Games and 13 World Championships, winning medals at the 2007 World Women's Curling Championship (silver) and the 2009 World Women's Curling Championship (bronze). She won a gold medal at the World Junior "B" Curling Championships in 2004 and a silver medal in 2002 at the European Curling championships as an alternate for Dorthe Holm's team. Margrietha Voskuilen
Margrietha Voskuilen (born 5 September 1960, Huizen) is a Dutch curler from the Curling Club Utrecht. She currently plays third for the Dutch national team. She made her international debut in 1995 as a lead for Mirjam Boymans-Gast's 16th place team at the European Curling Championships. Two years later, she was an alternate for Beatrice Miltenburg's 12th place team. In 1999, Voskuilen had moved up to third, for Marie José Tiemstra, and they finished in 13th place. In 2001 and 2002, Voskuilen skipped the Dutch team at the European Championships, and finished 13th and 16th respectively. In 2004, Voskuilen played in the second position for Shari Leibbrandt-Demmon, and they finished 12th, meaning promotion to the A Division. Andrea Schöpp (born 27 February 1965) is a German curler from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She lectures part-time in statistics at the University of Munich. Career Schöpp is a two-time World champion ( and ), seven-time European champion (, , , , , , ) and 1992 Winter Olympics champion (demonstration). Schöpp has skipped every team she has played for in international events - except when she plays at the European Mixed Curling Championships, where she usually plays third for her brother, Rainer. Schöpp made her international debut in 1980, at the age of 15. She skipped the German team to a bronze medal at the European championships that year. Rainer Schöpp is a German curler and curling coach. He is a former European mixed curling champion. Career Schöpp represented Germany in his junior years at the World Junior Curling Championships, with his best finish at the event in in sixth place. He represented Germany at his first and only world championship in 1988, finishing in sixth place with a 3–6 win–loss record. Schöpp has been most successful in representing Germany at the European Mixed Curling Championship. He won the title in 2008, and posted three bronze-medal finishes in 2005, 2007, and 2010.
