2014 European Curling Championships – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament of the 2014 European Curling Championships was held from November 22 to 29 at the Palladium de Champéry in Champéry, Switzerland. The winners of the Group C tournament in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands will move on to the Group B tournament. The top eight men's teams at the 2014 European Curling Championships will represent their respective nations at the 2015 Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Champéry
Champéry (; frp, Champérié) is a municipality in the district of Monthey in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. History Champéry is first mentioned in 1286 as ''Champery'' The Hotel Dent-du-Midi opened in 1857. In 1969, Champéry became one of the founding villages of the Portes du Soleil ski area and resort. Geography Champéry has an area, , of . Of this area, 32.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 33.4% is forested. Troels Harry
Troels Harry (born 25 December 1990) is a Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and current Danish champion. Career Harry has represented Denmark in four World Junior Championships. He played lead for Rasmus Stjerne in 2007 and 2008, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively. In 2009, Denmark, with Harry as lead under Stjerne, made the playoffs. They were defeated by Canada in the page 1 vs. 2 game, but rebounded with a win over the United States in the semifinal and defeated Canada in the final to win the gold medal. Oliver Dupont
Oliver Dupont (born 16 January 1990) is a Danish curler. He won a gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. Career Juniors As a junior curler, Dupont competed in five consecutive World Junior Curling Championships with Denmark from 2006 to 2010. Denmark's best result was in 2009, when they won their first ever junior title. Dupont's all-time World Junior Curling Championship personal record is 22–19. Mikkel Munch Krause (born 2 October, 1988) is a Danish curler from Hvidovre. He is a former World Junior champion. Curling career Junior As a junior curler, Krause represented Denmark at seven World Junior Curling Championships. His first was in 2004, when he played second on a team skipped by Kenneth Jørgensen. The team finished 2–7 at the tournament, finishing in last place. At the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships, he was the alternate on the team but played in six games. Rasmus Stjerne Hansen (born 26 May 1988 in Hvidovre) is a retired Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and current Danish champion. He curls out of the Hvidovre Curling Club. Career Stjerne has participated in five World Junior Championships. He played as third for Kenneth Jørgensen in 2004 and 2005, finishing outside of the playoffs in both years. He then skipped his own team at the World Juniors in 2006, 2007, and 2008, finishing fifth, fourth, and seventh, respectively. Jindřich Kitzberger
Jindřich Kitzberger (born 13 April 1981) is a Czech curler. He currently throws lead stones for the Jiří Snítil rink. As a junior curler, Kitzberger played in two World Junior Curling Championships. He played in the 1999 World Junior Curling Championships where he threw second stones for Vit Nekovarik. The team finished in 9th place. The team returned the following year, and at the 2000 World Junior Curling Championships they had a worse showing, finishing last, in 10th place. This finish relegated the Czech Republic to the World Juniors B Pool, and Kitzberger would not return to the main event. Martin Snítil (born 20 November 1978) is a Czech curler. He currently plays second on a team skipped by his brother, Jiří. Snítil made his international curling debut at the 2003 European Curling Championships, having coached the Czech men's team the previous season. Martin played second on the Czech team, skipped by his brother Jiří, and they finished 15th. The team returned to the European Championships in 2006, this time with Martin playing third on the team. At the 2006 European Curling Championships, they finished 11th. They improved the following season; at the 2007 European Curling Championships, they finish in 8th place, qualifying themselves for the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship- the first Czech team to qualify for the Worlds. Lukáš Klíma (curler)
Lukáš Klíma (born 19 February 1991) is a Czech curler. Klíma skipped the Czech junior team at two World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships he led teammates Marek Cernovsky, Samuel Mokris and Karel Klima to a 9th-place finish (2-8 record). At the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships, he led Cernovsky, Jan Zelingr and Mokris to an 8th-place finish (2-7 record). The highlight of his junior career came at the 2011 Winter Universiade. There, he led his team of Jiri Candra, Tomáš Paul and David Jirounek to a bronze medal. After posting a 6-3 round robin record, the team beat Canada in a tie breaker, then lost to Korea in the semifinal, before beating Great Britain to claim the bronze.
