Dhivehi League
Dhivehi League was a former Maldivian association football league, organized by the Football Association of Maldives. Every year, 8 teams competed in the league, which was the top level in the Maldivian football league system. Format Dhivehi League consists of 3 rounds of teams that play a round robin format, which means that each team plays each other twice; once at home and once as visitor. In the 3rd round only the top 6 teams will play while the lower 2 teams will be relegated. Every year, 8 teams compete in this high-profile competition, the top level in Maldives. Dhivehi League qualification methods: Zone 1–8 consists of the Atolls and the two finalists of Zone 1–8 Final Tournament and the top 2 teams of Zone 9 Qualification (Malé League, First Division) participate in Dhivehi League along with the 4 best-finishers in the Dhivehi League of the previous year. Ali Fasir ( dv, ޢަލީ ފާސިރު; born 4 September 1988) nicknamed "Sentey", is a Maldivian footballer who plays as a winger or striker for Club Valencia, which he captains, and the Maldives national team. Fasir began his career at Club Eagles after being spotted by the club during their training camps. He played one season with the club and spent a year without a club until he was offered from Club All Youth Linkage. He played a major role to promote his side from second division to Dhivehi League. President's Cup (Maldives)
President's Cup (known before 2005 as the National Championship) is said to be the first tournament in the Maldives and also the birth of Football in the Maldives. The very first tournament was held in 1946, with 2006 seeing its 50th edition. The first edition ended with Customs and Naadhee Ahthamadhun both sharing the trophy. Mika Lönnström (born 24 May 1974 in Porvoo) is a Finnish football coach who is currently Director of Sport at HIFK Fotboll in Finland's Veikkausliiga. Ismail Mahfooz also known as Imma Mahfooz is a former Maldivian international footballer and is the current head coach of the Maldives national football team under a caretaker capacity.
