2014 Conference Premier Play-off Final
The 2014 Conference Premier play-off Final, known as the 2014 Skrill Premier play-off Final for sponsorship reasons, was a football match between Cambridge United and Gateshead on 18 May 2014 at Wembley Stadium in London. It was the twelfth Conference Premier play-off Final. Cambridge secured a place in the final after beating F.C. Halifax Town 2–1 on aggregate. Gateshead's place was secured after beating Grimsby Town 4–2 over two legs. This was Cambridge United's 3rd Conference play-off final after losing in 2008 and 2009 and Gateshead's first ever Conference play-off final and their first ever visit to Wembley Stadium. Cambridge United won the game 2–1 and were promoted to the 2014–15 Football League Two. 2013–14 Football Conference
The 2013–14 Football Conference season is the tenth season with the Conference consisting of three divisions and the thirty-fourth season overall. The Conference covers the top two levels of Non-League football in England. The Conference Premier is the fifth highest level of the overall pyramid, whilst the Conference North and Conference South exist at the sixth level. The top team and the winner of the playoff of the Premier division will be promoted to Football League Two, while the bottom four are relegated to the North or South divisions. The champions of the North and South divisions will be promoted to the Premier division, alongside the play-off winners from each division. The bottom three in each of the North and South divisions are relegated to the premier divisions of the Northern Premier League, Isthmian League or Southern League. Colin Larkin (footballer)
Colin Larkin (born 27 April 1982 in Dundalk, County Louth) is an Irish professional footballer, who plays as a forward for Sunderland RCA. He has previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Kidderminster Harriers, Mansfield Town, Chesterfield, Northampton Town, Lincoln City and Gateshead. Playing career Larkin began his professional career with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He progressed through their youth ranks to make his first team debut on 24 August 1999 in a League Cup exit to Wycombe Wanderers, where he scored within eight minutes of coming off the bench. Kevin Roberts (footballer, Born 1989)
Kevin Roberts (born 17 August 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for National League North club Chester. Early life Roberts was born in Liverpool, Merseyside. Career Chester City Roberts started his career in Chester City's youth system in 2003, signing a professional contract in January 2007. His first involvement in the first team came as an unused substitute in a 2–0 away defeat to Lincoln City on 5 May 2007. He made his first-team debut as a substitute against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup first round tie on 14 August 2007 at home. Adam Clifford Smith (born 23 November 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for side Morecambe. Career Early career Born in Sunderland, Smith joined Leicester City from Middlesbrough in 2010. Jack Lester
Jack William Lester (born 8 October 1975) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, who is a first team coach at EFL Championship side of Sheffield United. As a player Sheffield born Lester played as a forward from 1994 to 2014. He came through the youth ranks at Grimsby Town where he moved into the first team in 1994. He became a first team regular and was part of the squad that was victorious in the Football League Trophy and Football League Second Division play-offs during the 1997–98 season. Liam Michael Hughes (born 10 August 1992) is an English footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or striker for club Worksop Town. Gateshead
Gateshead () is a large town in northern England. It is on the River Tyne's southern bank, opposite Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle to which it is joined by seven bridges. Gateshead International Stadium
Gateshead International Stadium (GIS) is a multi-purpose, all-seater venue in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. Originally known as the Gateshead Youth Stadium, the venue was built in 1955 at a cost of £30,000. It has since been extensively re-developed on three occasions. James Marwood
James Marwood (born 21 May 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward. Club career Son of former Arsenal player Brian Marwood, James Marwood began his career as a youth team player with Newcastle United, before playing for English non-league sides Blyth Spartans and Team Northumbria.
