2014 Boston Pizza Cup
The 2014 Boston Pizza Cup, the provincial men's curling championship for Alberta, was held from February 5 to 9 at the Lacombe Curling Club in Lacombe, Alberta. The winner represented Alberta at the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops. Qualification process Twelve teams qualified for the provincial tournament through several methods. Lacombe, Alberta
Lacombe ( ) is a city in central Alberta, Canada. It is located approximately north of Red Deer, the nearest major city, and south of Edmonton, the nearest metropolitan area. The city is set in the rolling parkland of central Alberta, between the Rocky Mountains foothills to the west and the flatter Alberta prairie to the east. Lacombe became Alberta's 17th city on September 5, 2010. History Lacombe is named after Albert Lacombe (28 February 1827 — 12 December 1916), a French-Canadian Roman Catholic Oblate missionary who lived among and evangelized the Cree and Blackfoot First Nations of western Canada. Robert Schlender
Robert "Rob" Schlender (born January 29, 1972 in Millet, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Career Schlender skipped Alberta in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, in 1990 and 1991. At the 1990 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team finished with a 5-6 record, missing the playoffs. At the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team lost in the final to Northern Ontario's Jason Repay. He also skipped Team Alberta in the 1991 Canada Winter Games in PEI where they received the Silver Medal with a 5-0 record in round robin and lost the final to Manitoba (James Kirkness). Schlender has played in three provincial championships. Saville Sports Centre
The Saville Community Sports Centre is a sports facility run by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, where it is located in Edmonton, Alberta. It features a curling rink, tennis courts and a gymnasium. Opened in 2003, the centre currently serves as the national training centre for curling in Canada. Charley M. Thomas (born April 4, 1986 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian curler from Calgary who currently skips his own rink on the World Curling Tour. Matthew Blandford (born April 16, 1985) is a Canadian curler currently residing in Cold Lake, Alberta. He is originally from Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, and is a three-time Newfoundland and Labrador junior champion. Career Blandford started his curling career as a junior curler in Newfoundland and Labrador. Lloyd Hill is an ice-covered hill rising to 335 m in the southwest of Dryanovo Heights, Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Wade White (born c. 1962) is a Canadian curler. He currently skips (captains) his own team based in Alberta, Canada. Brendan Michael Bottcher (born December 19, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Bottcher is a three-time provincial men's champion, and was the skip of the 2021 Canadian men's championship team, having led Alberta to victory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier. Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Bottcher enjoyed a successful junior career winning the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships.
