2014 Allan Cup
The 2014 Allan Cup was the Canadian championship of senior ice hockey. This was the 106th year the Allan Cup was awarded. The tournament was contended in Dundas, Ontario from April 14 to April 19, 2014 and hosted by the Dundas Real McCoys of the Ontario Hockey Federation. The Real McCoys went a perfect 4–0 in the tournament and defeated the Clarenville Caribous 3–2 in overtime in the championship game to win their first Allan Cup. Allan Cup
The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the national senior amateur men's ice hockey champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir Montagu Allan of Ravenscrag, Montreal, and has been competed for since 1909. The current champions are the Lacombe Generals, who captured the 2019 Allan Cup in Lacombe, Alberta. History In 1908, a split occurred in the competition of ice hockey in Canada. The top amateur teams left the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association, which allowed professionals, to form the new Inter-Provincial Amateur Hockey Union (IPAHU), a purely amateur league. The trustees of the Stanley Cup decided that the Cup would be awarded to the professional ice champion, meaning there was no corresponding trophy for the amateur championship of Canada. Stony Plain Eagles
The Stony Plain Eagles are a senior ice hockey team based in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada. Founded in the 1930s, the team moved up to the Senior AAA ranks in 1992. They played in the Allan Cup Hockey West until 2020. The Eagles were the 1999 Allan Cup National Senior champions of Canada. History In 1987, the Eagles would win both the Alberta and Western Canada Intermediate "A" Championship, but lost the Hardy Cup Intermediate National Championship in straight games to Miramichi Gagnon Packers. From 1992 until 2003, the Eagles captured twelve consecutive Alberta Senior AAA Provincial Championships, reaching six Allan Cup finals in that time. Mount Pearl Blades
The Mount Pearl Samurai were a Canadian senior ice hockey team from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. They were part of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League and are eligible for the Herder Memorial Trophy as well as the Allan Cup. History The Mount Pearl Samurai were granted expansion into the Avalon East Senior Hockey League in the fall of 2012. The addition of the Samurai coincided with the hiatus of the Mount Pearl Blades of the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League, who are sitting out 2012-13 if not indefinitely. On October 26, 2012, the Samurai played their first ever game, dropping a 10-2 decision to the Northeast Eagles on the road. On November 2, 2012, the Samurai played their first ever home game, losing 4–3 to the St. John's Caps. Newfoundland Senior Hockey League
The Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (NSHL) was a senior ice hockey league in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada founded in 2011. The NSHL operated for three seasons from 2011–2012 to 2013–2014. The league competed for the Herder Memorial Trophy and its teams were eligible for the Allan Cup playoffs. History The league was confirmed September 10, 2011 at the Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador AGM. The league is the result of a merger between the Avalon East Senior Hockey League and the West Coast Senior Hockey League. The Harbour Grace CeeBee Stars, (also commonly known as the Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises CeeBee Stars due to a sponsorship deal that began October 23, 2015) are a senior ice hockey team based in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador and part of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League. The CeeBees are eight-time winners of the Herder Memorial Trophy as provincial champions. History The club has its roots in the former Conception Bay Ceebees, a very successful hockey club in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League from 1958 to 1969. Whitby Dunlops
The Whitby Dunlops are a Canadian senior ice hockey team in the team in the Allan Cup Hockey league. The team began play in 2004, and is on a leave of absence as of the 2020-21 season. Two previous teams have also played as the Whitby Dunlops. The first played in the OHA Senior A League (1890-1979), OHA Senior A League from 1954 to 1960, winners of the 1958 World Ice Hockey Championships. The second was a junior ice hockey team for the 1962–63 season. Kenora Thistles (senior)
The Kenora Thistles were a Canadian senior ice hockey club from Kenora, Ontario. The club most recently played in the 2015–16 season in the Hockey Northwestern Ontario and were hosts of the 2011 Allan Cup. History Founded in 2006, the Kenora Thistles were one of only two teams in their area, the other being the Thunder Bay Twins. Both the Thistles and Twins played a series of exhibition games against Manitoba and Saskatchewan senior clubs to stay ready during the winter as they have no official league play until the playoffs. In the spring, the Thistles and Thunder Bay traditionally met in a best-of-3 series to determine the Ontario Hockey Association champion for the Renwick Cup. South East Prairie Thunder
The South East Prairie Thunder are a Canadian Senior 'AAA' ice hockey team based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba and two-time Allan Cup champions. They play an independent schedule under the jurisdiction of Hockey Manitoba. The team is inactive as of 2021. History The team was founded in 2004 as the Grunthal Red Wings and based out of Grunthal, Manitoba. The Red Wings became the Southeast Prairie Thunder, relocating to Steinbach in 2006 and playing out of the T.G. Smith Centre from 2006 to 2017. The Powell River Regals were a Canadian Senior ice hockey team from Powell River, British Columbia. The Regals played an independent schedule under the supervision of the BC Amateur Hockey Association. The Regals were three-time Allan Cup National Senior "AAA" Champions and one-time Hardy Cup National Intermediate "A" Champions. Chinook Hockey League
The Allan Cup Hockey West (ACHW) (formerly the Chinook League) is a multi-tier Canadian Senior ice hockey league based in Alberta, on hiatus as of 2021. The ACHW is one of two Allan Cup-eligible ice hockey leagues currently operating in Canada; the other is Ontario's Allan Cup Hockey. Since the beginning of the 1998–99 season, the Chinook and ACHW have produced four Allan Cup national champions: the 1999 Stony Plain Eagles, and the 2009, 2013 and 2016 Bentley Generals.
