2014 AAMI Classic ...
The 2014 AAMI Classic took place between 8–11 January 2014, at the Kooyong Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Lleyton Hewitt was going to play, but was replaced by Jordan Thompson after winning the 2014 Brisbane International. In the final it was Kei Nishikori who defeated Tomáš Berdych in the final 7-5 6–4 to become the first Japanese winner of the event. Kei Nishikori
is an inactive Japanese professional tennis player. He is the second male Japanese player to have been ranked in the top 5 in singles (after Jiro Sato), and the only one to do so in the Open Era. Nishikori first reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in March 2015. Nishikori has won 12 singles titles and was runner-up at the 2014 US Open, making him the first male player representing an Asian country to reach a Grand Slam singles final. He also became the first man from Asia to qualify for the ATP Finals and reached the semifinals in 2014 and 2016.
