2014 1. Deild Karla
The 2014 1. deild karla (English: ''Men's First Division'') was the 60th season of second-tier Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league; play began on 9 May and was concluded on 20 September. Leiknir R were crowned champions on 20. Sept 2014 for the first time and earned their first ever promotion to Úrvalsdeild. Teams The league will be contested by twelve clubs. Eight remained in the division from the 2013 season, while four new clubs joined the 1. deild karla: * ÍA and Víkingur Ólafsvík were relegated from the 2013 Úrvalsdeild, replacing Fjölnir and Víkingur Reykjavík who were promoted to the 2014 Úrvalsdeild * HK and KV were promoted from the 2013 2. deild karla, in place of KF and Völsungur who were relegated to the 2014 2. deild karla Club information League table Results grid Each team plays every opponent once home and away for a total of 22 matches per club, and 132 matches altogether. Leiknir Reykjavík
Íþróttafélagið Leiknir, commonly known as Leiknir Reykjavík, is an Icelandic multi-sports club. It is best known for its men's football team that plays in 1. deild karla (football), 1. deild karla, the second tier of Icelandic football, but also fields departments in Badminton, basketball, volleyball and karate. The club was founded in 1973 and is based in Breiðholt, Reykjavík. In 2014 1. deild karla, 2014 the men's football team placed 1st in the 1. deild karla and won a promotion to the Úrvalsdeild, however after just 2015 Úrvalsdeild, one season they were relegated to back to the first division. In 2021 they will return to the top flight having finished second in the 2020 season. Their home is Leiknisvöllur, where they have played since their early years. The 2014 Úrvalsdeild karla, also known as ''Pepsi-deild karla'' for sponsorship reasons, was the 103rd season of top-flight Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league; the defending champions were KR, who won their twenty-sixth league title in 2013. On 4 October Stjarnan won their first Úrvalsdeild karla title. Stjarnan went through the season unbeaten in the league and equalled the point record of 52 points. Teams The 2014 Úrvalsdeild will be contested by twelve clubs, ten of which played in the division the previous year. Grindavík
Grindavík () is a fishing town on the Southern Peninsula (Iceland), Southern Peninsula of Iceland not far from the tuya Þorbjörn (mountain), Þorbjörn. It is one of the few cities with a harbour on this coast. Most of the inhabitants work in the fishing industry. Bolungarvík
Bolungarvík (, regionally also ) is a small town and the only built-up area in the municipality of Bolungarvíkurkaupstaður in the northwest of Iceland, located on the Westfjords peninsula, approximately from the town of Ísafjörður and from the capital city Reykjavík. Ísafjörður
Ísafjörður (pronounced , meaning ''ice fjord'', literally ''fjord of ices'') is a town in the northwest of Iceland. Knattspyrnufélagið Haukar ( en, Hawks F.C.) is an Icelandic multi-sport club from Hafnarfjörður with divisions in Football, Handball, Basketball, Karate, Skiing & Chess. Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar, abbreviated KA, is an Icelandic multi-sport club based in Akureyri in the north of Iceland. The club was founded in 1928. The football team currently plays in Besta deild karla and have won the top flight once in 1989. Club The club offers various sports including football, handball, judo, volleyball and racket sports. Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur, also referred to as Þróttur Reykjavík or Throttur, is a sports club from Reykjavík in Iceland. The club runs a association football, football department as well as Team handball, handball, volleyball and tennis departments.
