2014 Cape Verdean Football Championships
The 2014 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 35th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 5 April and finished on 31 May, earlier than the previous year as some days later, television viewers would later tune to the 2014 World Cup which took place in Brazil. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. CS Mindelense won the tenth title and their second in a row, its total number of titles superseded Sporting Praia's totals by one. They did not participate in the 2015 CAF Champions League. Sporting Clube da Praia, short form: Sporting Praia ( Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK as well as Badiu: ''Sporting Klubi di Praia'') is a professional football club that plays in the Santiago South Premier Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the capital city of Praia in the island of Santiago, one of the unrelegated clubs in the south of the island along with three of the city's four historically mightiest clubs including Académica, Boavista and CD Travadores. Along with Académcia, Boavista, Desportivo, Travadores and Vitória, it is one of several teams that share the same ground, Estádio da Várzea, which has a capacity of 8,000. São Nicolau Cup
The São Nicolau Island Cup (Portuguese: ''Taça da Ilha de São Nicolau'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Tasa da Dja de San Nikolau'') is a cup competition played during the season in the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde, it consists of all the clubs from all the two regional divisions and are divided into about four rounds. The competition is organized by the São Nicolau Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de São Nicolau, ARFSN). The cup winner competes in the regional super cup final in the following season, when a cup winner also wins the championship, a runner-up competes, it was done for the first and only time in 2017, before, it was the only regional cup where no cup runner up qualified. Santiago Island League (North)
The Santiago Island League (North) is a regional championship played in Santiago Island, Cape Verde. The competition is organized by the Santiago North Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul, ARFSS). The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. History The league was formed in 1999, the champion qualified into the single island championship which challenged the South Zone champion and the winner qualified into the National Championships, in 2003, the Santiago Island League was split into the north and south zones and was formally created, the two are the youngest island league in Cape Verde. Associação Académica do Fogo is a football club that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde and in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde.
