2013–14 Southern Miss Golden Eagles Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Southern Miss Golden Eagles men's basketball team represented the University of Southern Mississippi during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Eagles, led by second year head coach Donnie Tyndall, played their home games at Reed Green Coliseum and were members of Conference USA. They finished the season 29–7, 13–3 in C-USA play to finish in a four-way tie for the C-USA regular season championship. They advanced to the semifinals of the C-USA tournament where they lost to Louisiana Tech. They were invited to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Toledo and Missouri to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to Minnesota. In 2016, the NCAA vacated all 29 wins (including 13 conference wins) due to participation of academically ineligible players. Donnie Tyndall
Donald Joseph Tyndall (born June 14, 1970) is an American basketball coach currently working as the head coach for Chipola College of the NJCAA. Tyndall played college basketball at Iowa Central Community College and Morehead State Eagles men's basketball, Morehead State and has been a basketball coach since 1994. His teams are known for pressing and playing an unconventional match-up zone, a highly successful variation of the defensive system employed by coach Rick Pitino at Louisville. Tyndall began his coaching career at the junior college level, first as an assistant at Iowa Central Community College from 1994 to 1996. He had his first head coaching position in the 1996–97 season at St. Catharine College, where he had 30 wins. Allstate Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Rosemont, Illinois, United States. The Blue Demons, led by fourth year head coach Oliver Purnell, played their home games at the Allstate Arena, with two home games at McGrath-Phillips Arena, and were members of the newly reorganized Big East Conference.
