2013–14 LKL Season
The 2013–14 Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was the 21st season of the top-tier level professional basketball league of Lithuania, the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. Competition format Regular season During the regular season, which lasted from 26 September, until 27 April, all teams except Žalgiris, Lietuvos rytas and Neptūnas played 34 games (four against each other, and two against the three mentioned teams). The three mentioned teams only played twenty games, two against each team. Playoff round The top eight teams in the regular season round were divided up into pairs, and each pair played two games (a third game was played if each team in the pair won a game). Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 12 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including the top-tier level EuroLeague. On April 22, 1993, the Lietuvos krepšinio asociacija (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball Association) (LKA) was founded. It was the first professional sports organisation in Lithuania. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was built on the foundation of the LKA. Former basketball player Šarūnas Marčiulionis is named as the founder of the league. BC Baltai
KK Atletas ( lt, Kauno rajono Krepšinio Klubas Atletas) is a professional basketball club that is based in Kaunas district, Lithuania. Currently the team plays in the National Basketball League, in the past Atletas participated in the LKL and the Baltic League, before dissolving in 2007 and becoming BC Aisčiai-Atletas. In 2009, the team merged with BC Kaunas Triobet and played with the names of Kaunas, Baltai and LSU-Baltai. In 2013 club was renamed again to LSU-Atletas, which was merged with the NKL champions of the same name. Atletas are multiple time LKL finalists, and were once considered to be one of the strongest teams in Lithuania. The NBA center Žydrūnas Ilgauskas represented Atletas at the very beginning of his career. Lithuanian basketball star Saulius Štombergas was also a key player of the team back then. Steponas Babrauskas
Steponas Babrauskas (born June 20, 1984) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. Professional career Babrauskas was a runner-up in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) with Lietuvos Rytas, in 2004. He won the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) with ASK Riga, in 2007. In 2008, he returned to Lietuvos Rytas, and was named the team's captain. With Rytas, he won the European secondary level EuroCup championship, the Lithuanian League championship, and the Baltic League (BBL) championship. He was one of the most hated opposing players by the rival fans of Žalgiris Kaunas. He had a brief stint in Turkey, in the 2014-15 season, a year removed after he left Rytas. He played for three seasons with Pieno žvaigždės, with whom he won the Baltic League in 2018. He moved to Dzūkija in 2018. Renaldas Seibutis
Renaldas Seibutis (born July 23, 1985) is a former Lithuanian professional basketball player. He represented the senior Lithuanian national team internationally. Professional career Europe In the 2010–11 season, Seibutis played for Olin Edirne Basketbol where he has become one of the leaders of Olin, averaging 18.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.5 apg and 1.6 spg. Romualdas Brazauskas (born July 31, 1960 in Biržai) is a Lithuanian basketball referee. After graduation from Vilnius Pedagogical Institute in 1983, Brazauskas became a FIBA judge in 1987 and since then he has judged basketball games in the Olympics, FIBA European and World Championships, Euroleague (including ten final games). In 2010, Brazauskas was awarded a Golden Whistle by FIBA at the World Championship in Turkey becoming a second person in history to receive this honorary award. Šarūnas "Šaras" Jasikevičius (; born 5 March 1976) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as a head coach for FC Barcelona of the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. During his playing career, standing at a height of tall, he played at the point guard position. Often considered one of the best Lithuanian and European point guards ever, Jasikevičius was a two-time All-EuroLeague First Team selection, the EuroLeague Final Four MVP in 2005 and a four-time triple crown winner. Kšyštof Lavrinovič ( pl, Krzysztof Ławrynowicz; born November 1, 1979) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for the BC Vytis of the National Basketball League. Artūras Valeika (born 11 August 1985) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for CBet Jonava of the Lithuanian Basketball League. He is 2 times champion in Romania with CSM Oradea, and one time SuperCup winner with the ”Red Lions”. Born in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union, Valeika started his career in 2003 playing for Vilnius SSK-Nord/LB Draudimas which was playing in the second Lithuanian league LKAL. Mindaugas Lukauskis aka "The Legend", "Iron man", (born May 19, 1979) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for BC Wolves of the Lithuanian Basketball League. Lukauskis is a holder of numerous Lithuanian League records. Professional career Lukauskis began his basketball career in the Panevežys youth basketball clubs, being the leader there. BC Prienai ( lt, Krepšinio klubas Prienai), also known by the sponsor name Labas Gas, is a professional basketball club based in Prienai, Lithuania. They play domestically in Lithuanian Basketball League every year. During the 2008–09 season, then called Rūdupis, they became the champion of the NKL and won the challenge match for a slot in the LKL.
