Adler Arena Skating Center
The Adler Arena Trade And Exhibition Center (Адлер-Арена) is an 8,000-seat speed skating rink, speed skating oval in the Sochi Olympic Park, Olympic Park, Sochi, Russia. It opened in 2012 and looks like an iceberg or ice fault. The center hosted the speed skating events at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Original plans for after the Olympics were for the Adler Arena to be turned into an exhibition center. It cost United States Dollar, $32.8 million to build the venue, including the temporary works for the Olympics. Before the Olympics it hosted the 2013 Russian Speed Skating Championships in December 2012 and the 2013 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships from 21 to 24 March 2013. Irene Karlijn (Ireen) Wüst (; born 1 April 1986) is a Dutch former long track speed skater. Wüst became the most successful speed skating olympian ever by achieving at least one gold medal in each of five consecutive Winter Olympic appearances and is the only athlete to win an individual gold medal in five consecutive Olympics, Summer or Winter. Brittany Starr Bowe (born February 24, 1988) is an American speed skater and former inline skater and basketball player. She has eight gold, one silver, and two bronze medals from the world inline speedskating championships. From her junior years, she has another 21 world championship medals. She also has a gold medal from the combined sprint event in roller skating at the 2007 Pan American Games. Zhang Hong (; ; born 12 April 1988), alternatively spelled as Chang Hung is a Chinese long track speed skater, known best from her gold medal in the 1000 meters in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Previously Zhang won a bronze medal in the 2012 World Sprint Championships. She set two personal records and received bronze medal in the 500 meters (28 January 2012). Her total points record for the championships (all four races) was the third best of all times. She started her skating career in 2008 and had victories in the Chinese National Winter Games 2012 where she represented the People's Liberation Army delegation. Park Seung-ju ( ko, 박승주; born September 15, 1990, in Seoul) is a South Korean speed-skater. Park competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for South Korea. In the 500 metres she finished 26th overall, and in the 1000 metres she was 31st. As of September 2014, Park's best performance at the World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships is 20th, in the 2013 1000m.
