The 2013 SaskTel Tankard will be held from January 30 to February 3 at the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort, Saskatchewan. The winning team will represent Saskatchewan at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier in Edmonton, Alberta. Melfort, Saskatchewan
Melfort (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 population 5,992) is a city in Saskatchewan, Canada, located approximately southeast of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Prince Albert, northeast of Saskatoon and north of Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina. Melfort became Saskatchewan's 12th city in 1980. Melfort was formerly called the "City of Northern Lights" due to the frequency with which the aurora borealis appears. However, in 2016, Melfort became "Play Melfort" due to its vast recreation programs and facilities. The city is bordered by the Rural Municipality of Star City No. 428 and the Rural Municipality of Flett's Springs No. 429. Steve Laycock
Stephen "Steve" Laycock (born October 29, 1982 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon. He currently skips his own team out of Saskatoon. Career In 2003, Laycock skipped Team Saskatchewan to a Canadian Junior Curling Championship and a World Junior Curling Championship. Until 2007 he tried repeatedly to skip a team to the provincial men's championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006, but was unsuccessful in all of his attempts. In 2006 he joined up with Pat Simmons as his lead, and finally won a provincial championship with him in 2007. He would win again in 2008 and once more in 2011, this time throwing third stones and calling the game for Simmons. Simmons left the team at the end of the 2010-11 season, leaving Laycock to find a replacement third. Laycock announced the addition of Joel Jordison to his team for the 2011-2012 season. Kirk Muyres
Kirk Lyle Muyres (born June 29, 1990) is a Canadian curler. He is a former Canadian junior champion. Career Juniors As a youth, Muyres was a member of the Saskatchewan team at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, where he played 5th. For much of his junior career, Muyres played third for the Josh Heidt rink. The team played in their first provincial men's championship in 2010 when Muyres was just 19. The team won one game in the event. After the season, Muyres left the team to play for the Braeden Moskowy rink at third. The team won the Saskatchewan Junior championships that year, earning the rink the right to represent Saskatchewan at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the Canadian Juniors, the team - which also included Colton Flasch and Matt Lang - went undefeated (12-0) through the round robin, and proceeded to win the event by defeating Ontario's Mathew Camm in the final. Randy Woytowich (born July 22, 1954) is a Canadian curling, curler from Saskatchewan. He is a former Canadian mixed champion and two-time provincial men's champion. As a junior curler, Woytowich and teammates Rick Woytowich, Ben Dies and John Kuffner won the Saskatchewan junior men's provincial championship. In 1984, Woytowich, Kathy Fahlman, Brian McCusker and Jan Betker won the provincial mixed championship, and then went on to win the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, representing Saskatchewan. The team went undefeated at the event, and earned a direct spot in the final against Quebec, which they won. The team was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
