2013 SAFF Championship
The 2013 South Asian Football Federation Championship, commonly referred to as 2013 SAFF Championship, was the 10th SAFF Championship for men's national football teams organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament took place from 31 August to 11 September 2013, and was hosted by Nepal for the second time, with the previous being in 1997. Host selection Nepal were selected as hosts in September 2012 during the 2012 SAFF Women's Championship in Sri Lanka. Broadcasting The tournament was broadcast live in Nepal on Kantipur Television Network, Tolo TV in Afghanistan and Television Maldives in Maldives. Every match was broadcast live on YouTube. Participating nations Along with the hosts, the other seven nations from the South Asian region participated in the tournament. Ali Ashfaq
Ali Ashfaq (; born 6 September 1985) is a Maldivian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains the Maldives national team. Nicknamed "Man of Steel" (), he is regarded as one of the best players in the South Asian region. A prolific and individualistic goalscorer, he is a free-kick specialist and a clinical finisher. His trademark style of scoring is beating the defenders and rounding off the keeper to score. 2018 SAFF Championship
The 2018 SAFF Championship, also known as 2018 SAFF Suzuki Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 12th edition of the SAFF Championship, the biennial international men's association football, football championship of South Asia organized by South Asian Football Federation, SAFF. It was initially scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh in December 2017, but later rescheduled to 4–15 September 2018. Host selection On 2 January 2016, SAFF executive committee made a decision that Bangladesh would host the 2017 SAFF Championship at a meeting held in Trivandrum, India. Maldives and Bhutan made bids to host the games but the latter withdrew its bid. 2009 SAFF Championship
The 2009 South Asian Football Federation Championship was hosted by Bangladesh from 4 to 13 December 2009. Bangladesh was awarded to host the tournament after the withdrawal of original hosts India. After India's reluctance to host the tournament, in May 2009, at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin on his return from the AFC Congress informed that although India were still retaining their status as hosts of the championship, Bangladesh and Nepal had turned in fresh bids in anticipation of staging this prestigious eight-nation meet. A decision was taken at the FIFA Congress in Bahamas in the first week of June but no announcement was officially made. 2005 South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup
The 2005 South Asian Football Federation Cup was the sixth edition of South Asian Football Federation Cup. It was the second time the competition was held in Pakistan. The tournament was played in two cities, Islamabad and Karachi with People's Football Stadium in Karachi hosting group-stages and Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad hosting knock-out rounds and the finals. The tournament started on 7 December and ended on 17 December. India won their fourth title after defeating Bangladesh 2–0 in the finals. Both sides contested the finals in the 1999 edition with India coming out victorious with the same result and Bhaichung Bhutia scored in that finals as well.
