2013 New York Cosmos Season
The 2013 New York Cosmos season was the first season of the new team playing in the new North American Soccer League. Including the previous franchise, this was the sixteenth season of the club playing professional soccer in the New York metropolitan area. The Cosmos sat out the league's spring season, joining for the second half of the year. They won the Fall Championship, and became the 2013 NASL Champions by winning the Soccer Bowl. Background The second version of the New York Cosmos came into existence during the summer of 2010. During the 2011 and 2012 calendar years, several youth teams and one tributary team under the Cosmos name played in an array of matches. The New York Cosmos is an American professional association football, soccer club based in Uniondale, New York, that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). The club has previously competed in the North American Soccer League (2011–2017), North American Soccer League (NASL). With the NASL, the team won the Soccer Bowl, Soccer Bowl Trophy in Soccer Bowl 2013, 2013, Soccer Bowl 2015, 2015, and Soccer Bowl 2016, 2016. Soccer Bowl
The Soccer Bowl was the annual championship game of the North American Soccer League, which ran from 1968 to 1984. The two top teams from the playoffs faced off in the final to determine the winner of the NASL Trophy. From the league's founding in 1968 through 1974, the championship game (or series, as it was played through 1971) was known as the NASL Championship Final, and in 1984 the single game was replaced by a best-of-three series known as the Soccer Bowl Series. Ayoze García
Ayoze García Pérez (born 22 November 1985), known simply as Ayoze, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left-back, currently assistant coach for USL Championship club Indy Eleven. He spent most of his 20-year senior career with Tenerife and the New York Cosmos, signing with the latter club in 2013. He retired following a spell in the USL Championship with Indy Eleven. Shep Norman Messing (born October 9, 1949) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper and current broadcaster who works as the lead analyst for New York Red Bulls matches on the MSG Network. In 2021 he took the position of chairman of the Major Arena Soccer League. He played seven seasons in the North American Soccer League and six in the Major Indoor Soccer League. He was also a member of the United States national team at the 1971 Pan American Games and 1972 Summer Olympics. Shimizu S-Pulse
is a professional Japanese football club. Located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka, Shizuoka Prefecture, S-Pulse currently competes in the J2 League (J2).
