2013 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The Division I Group A tournament was held at DNB Arena in Stavanger, Norway, from 7 to 13 April 2013. The Division I Group B was contested from 8 to 14 April 2013 at Patinoire Iceberg in Strasbourg, France. The winners of the Division I Group A were initially presumed to be promoted to the 2015 Top Division. However, with the Divisions I and II playing in an Olympic year, and the eight Olympic entries being in none of those tournaments, it was determined that the last placed Olympic team will play a challenge series with the 2014 Division I Group A champion for promotion to the 2015 Top Division. The last-placed team of the Division I Group A was relegated to the Division I Group B for 2014. 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The Division I Group A tournament was held in Ventspils, Latvia, from March 25 to 31. The winner, the Czech Republic, was promoted to the top division for 2013, while the bottom-ranked team, Kazakhstan, was relegated to Group B for 2013. Group B was contested from April 9 to 15 at Hull, Great Britain. The winner, Denmark, moves up to Group A for 2013, while the last placed team Italy is relegated to Division II Group A. Denmark won the three way tie-breaker with France and China by virtue of having a superior goal differential in the games those three nations played against each other (Denmark +3, China +1, France −4). Relegation was decided in similar fashion, by breaking a three way tie between Great Britain (+4), the Netherlands (−1), and Italy (−3). Overtime is a method of determining a winner in an ice hockey game when the score is tied after regulation. The main methods of determining a winner in a tied game are the overtime period (commonly referred to as overtime), the shootout, or a combination of both. If league rules dictate a finite time in which overtime may be played, with no penalty shoot-out to follow, the game's winning team may or may not be necessarily determined. Michaela Matejová
Michaela Matejová (born 2 March 1986) is a Slovak retired ice hockey defenseman and former member of the Slovak national ice hockey team. Playing career Matejová's senior club career began with the women's representative team of HC Slovan Bratislava during the 2002–03 season of the Slovak ('1st Women's League') and she remained with the team through the 2007–08 season. HC Slovan also began participating in the Elite Women's Hockey League (EWHL) during the 2005–06 season, and Matejová was an EWHL Champion with the team in 2006 and 2007. At age 22, she opted to play abroad and signed with Oulun Kärpät Naiset in Finland's top league, the Naisten SM-sarja (rebranded as Naisten Liiga in 2017). Anna Džurňáková (born 24 January 1983 in Kežmarok, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovakian ice hockey forward. International career Džurňáková was selected for the Slovakia national women's ice hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She played in all five games, scoring one goal. She played in all three games of the 2010 Olympic qualifying campaign. Džurňáková has also appeared for Slovakia at seven IIHF Women's World Championships, across three levels. Nicoline Søndergaard Jensen (born 8 November 1992) is a Danish ice hockey player and alternate captain of the Danish national ice hockey team, currently serving as captain of the Rødovre Mighty Bulls Q in the KvindeLigaen (). Marie Henriksen (ice Hockey)
Marie Henriksen (born 31 August 1993) is a former Norwegian handball player for the club Byåsen HE. She also represented Norway in the 2011 Women's Junior European Handball Championship, placing 12th. She was near a position on the Norwegian national team many times, but has been very unlucky with serious injuries in her young career. Spring 2016 she suffered her third serious injury in her right knee and in March 2017 she announced that she was forced to retire because of her injuries, at age 23. She is the younger sister of international footballer Markus Henriksen and daughter of Trond Henriksen. Zuzana Tomčíková (born 23 April 1988) is a Slovak retired ice hockey and ball hockey goaltender, currently working as a sports specialist with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee.
