Formula BMW
Formula BMW was a junior racing formula for single seater cars. It was positioned at the bottom of the motorsport career ladder alongside the longer established Formula Ford category. Like Formula Ford, it was intended to function as the young kart racing graduate's first experience of car racing. The new formula was created by BMW Motorsport in 2001, with the first of its championships being inaugurated in Germany in 2002. Selected competitors from each series meet in the World Final at the end of each season, with the promise of a Formula One test for the winner. From 2011 onwards BMW ceased to support the Pacific and Europe series, in favour of the Formula BMW Talent Cup. The Talent Cup, which was the final Formula BMW championship in existence, ended after the 2013 season. Jules Szymkowiak (born 1 October 1995 in Heerlen, Limburg) is a Dutch racing driver. After competing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship he transferred to GT-racing in various GT3 championships. Career Single seaters After karting in various Rotax Max powered classes Szymkowiak was selected to compete in the Formula BMW Talent Cup in 2013. The Dutch driver won four races during the season, two at the Red Bull Ring and two at the Slovakia Ring. At the championship Grand Final at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben Szymkowiak finished second in the first race, retired in the second race and placed sixth in the third race. The Dutchman had to settle for sixth in the overall standings. For 2014 Szymkowiak was announced to race with Van Amersfoort Racing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. James Allen (racing Driver)
James Allen (born 4 July 1996) is a professional racing driver from Australia. He currently competes in the IMSA SportsCar Championship for G-Drive Racing by APR and has previously competed in the European Le Mans Series. Career European Le Mans Series Allen first contested the European Le Mans Series in 2017 with Graff Racing's LMP2 entry. Allen, along with co-drivers Richard Bradley, Franck Matelli and Gustavo Yacamán drove the #40 Oreca 07 to a 3rd-place finish in the championship. Allen would stay on with Graff in 2018, driving the (now G-Drive branded) #40 entry to a 12th-place finish. Kaan Önder, (born 10 January 1997 in Istanbul) is a former Turkish race driver. He was mentored by triple world champion Andy Priaulx in 2014 and 2015. He holds titles of CIK SEEKZ (South East European Karting Zone) KF3 champion (2010), two times Turkish Karting Championship champion (KF3 in 2009 and ICA-J in 2008) and winner of the Rotax Max International Open Junior Category in 2011. He is the youngest Turkish race driver who attended the FIA ETCC in 2014. As of the 2016 season he has been inactive, having retired from the motorsports to study mathematics and physics. As of 2019 he is studying at the University of Cambridge. He is a PhD candidate in the high energy physics group at DAMTP and is a member of Downing College. The Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track in Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The race circuit was founded as Österreichring (translation: Austrian Circuit) and hosted the Austrian Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years, from to . Automotodróm Slovakia Ring is a motor racing circuit in Orechová Potôň, Dunajská Streda District in Slovakia, approximately away from Bratislava Airport. It was built between 2008 and 2009. Description New Zealand race car driver Matt Halliday suggested that the rear engine Porsches struggled with Slovakia Ring's long radius corners with much less front aerodynamics than the other cars. A major feature of the circuit is a prominent hump on one of the straights that causes some cars to fly with the front wheels off the ground. Only one car has flipped over entirely and crashed after going over the hump at a high speed. Prior to start of the 2014 season the hump between turns 2 and 3 was rebuilt. Orechová Potôň ( hu, Diósförgepatony, ) is a village and municipality in the Dunajská Streda District in the Trnava Region of south-west Slovakia. History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1250. Until the end of World War I, it was part of Hungary and fell within the Dunaszerdahely district of Pozsony County. After the Austro-Hungarian army disintegrated in November 1918, Czechoslovakian troops occupied the area. After the Treaty of Trianon of 1920, the village became officially part of Czechoslovakia. The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest.
