2013 Connacht Senior Football Championship
The 2013 Connacht Senior Football Championship was that year's installment of the annual Connacht Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of the Connacht GAA. It was won by Mayo who defeated London in a final, which, historically, was the Exiles' first time to reach a provincial decider. London's appearance in the Connacht final followed a remarkable turn of events. Having not won a Connacht championship match since 1977, they first overcame Sligo in their quarter-final meeting. They then secured a draw against Leitrim in the semi-final in Carrick-on-Shannon before winning the replay in Roscommon. Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the counties of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as counties London and New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht Senior Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. The winner progresses directly to the All-Ireland Super 8s, while losing teams progress to the All-Ireland Qualifiers (before 2001 the All-Ireland was a straight knock-out format meaning all losing teams were eliminated after a single defeat). McHale Park
MacHale Park () is a GAA stadium in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. It is the home of the Castlebar Mitchels GAA and Mayo GAA Gaelic football teams. Built in 1931, as of 2022 the ground has a capacity of approximately 28,000 and is named after John MacHale, Catholic Archbishop of Tuam from 1831 to 1881. Marty Duffy
Martin Duffy is a Gaelic football referee from County Sligo. He is from Enniscrone. He is a member of the Kilgass GAA club and has served as its chairperson. He is the brother of Michael Duffy, also a referee. Career Duffy refereed the 2009 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final between Cork and Kerry at Croke Park. The decision to appoint Duffy surprised Mick O'Dwyer and Billy Morgan, who thought it would have gone to Pat McEnaney, comments which disappointed former referee Weeshie Fogarty. Duffy had done some Sligo and Connacht finals and refereed both the 2009 National Football League opener between Dublin and Tyrone and the 2009 National Football League final between Derry and Kerry. Gaelic Park ( ga, Páirc na nGael) is a multi-purpose outdoor athletics facility, located at West 240th Street and Broadway in Riverdale, Bronx, in New York City in the U.S. state of New York.
