2013 Blancpain Endurance Series Season
The 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series season was the third season of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The season commenced on 14 April at Monza and ended on 22 September at the Nürburgring. The season featured five rounds, with each race lasting for a duration of three hours besides the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 1000 km Nürburgring events. Calendar In July 2012, the Stéphane Ratel Organisation announced the 2013 calendar. The calendar did not differ much from the previous season. Blancpain Endurance Series
The GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, formerly for sponsorship reasons the Blancpain Endurance Series from 2011 to 2015 and Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup from 2016 to 2019, is a sports car racing series developed by SRO Motorsports Group and the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB) with approval from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It features grand tourer racing cars modified from production road cars complying with the FIA's GT3 regulations. The series's goal is to be an endurance racing championship for GT3 cars, similar to the European Le Mans Series which uses GTE cars and Le Mans Prototypes. The series was primarily sponsored by Swiss watchmaker Blancpain, and the company's Lamborghini Super Trofeo series serve as support races. In 2019, SRO announced that their sponsorship deal with Blancpain had been discontinued and the series was renamed the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for the 2020 season. Nikolaus "Niki" Mayr-Melnhof (born 9 November 1978 in Leoben) is an Austrian racing driver currently competing in the Blancpain Sprint Series for Phoenix Racing (Germany). He previously competed in the FIA GT1 World Championship for Vita4one Racing Career In 2008 he contested the GT4 European Cup in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 run by the Jetalliance Racing team, winning the first race of the season at Silverstone and again at Oschersleben. Matthew Halliday (racing Driver)
Matthew Halliday (born 14 July 1979) is a motor racing driver. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand. Single seater racing Halliday's formula racing career has involved various single seater series in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States. Following two seasons in the Formula Holden category contesting the Australian Drivers' Championship in 1999 and 2000, he moved to the United States and ran in both the Indy Lights and Toyota Atlantic series in 2001. In 2002 he moved to the Infiniti Pro Series but was injured after two races. He finished 3rd and 4th in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix races at Brands Hatch in 2005 went on to have a very successful season with A1 Team New Zealand. He ran the first three races of the 2007 Champ Car World Series season for Conquest Racing however his sponsorship ended after three races and he was replaced by Jan Heylen. The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG in 2006. The car is exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's private subsidiary company manufacturing high performance automotive parts, Audi Sport GmbH (formerly quattro GmbH), and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo and presently the Huracán platform. Rahel Frey
Rahel Frey (born 23 February 1986 in Niederbipp, Canton of Bern) is a Swiss Audi factory racing driver. She has competed in such series as Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, International Formula Master and the German Formula Three Championship. Frey competed in the LMGT1 category of 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. She shared #61 Matech Competition Ford GT with fellow Swiss female drivers Natacha Gachnang and Cyndie Allemann. All three participating Fords were forced to retire from the race. Frey then joined the Audi DTM squad and replaced Katherine Legge in 2011. Then decided she did not wish to carry on with her DTM career and left at the start of the 2013 season. W Racing Team (WRT) is a Belgian auto racing team founded in 2009 by engineer and former head of Volkswagen Motorsport René Verbist, racing driver Vincent Vosse, and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. 2013 24 Hours Of Spa
The 2013 Total 24 Hours of Spa was the 65th running of the 24 Hours of Spa. It was also the fourth round of the 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series season and was held on 27 and 28 July at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The race was won by the German trio of Bernd Schneider, Maximilian Buhk, and Maximilian Götz of HTP Motorsport in their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. The victory was the third ever for Mercedes-Benz, their previous win dating back to 1964.
