2012–13 Women's National League (Ireland)
The 2012–13 Women's National League was the second season of the Women's National League. This season was again sponsored by Bus Éireann. The six founding members of the league – Peamount United, Castlebar Celtic, Cork Women's F.C., Raheny United, Shamrock Rovers and Wexford Youths – were joined for the second season by DLR Waves. Raheny United won their first of two WNL titles. They also complete a league and cup double after already winning the 2012 FAI Women's Cup. Peamount United won the 2013 WNL Cup with a 6–3 win over Castlebar Celtic. Sara Lawlor of Peamount United was the top league goalscorer with 28 goals. She also won a second consecutive Player of the Season award. Women's National League (Ireland)
The Women's National League (WNL; ga, Sraith Náisiúnta na mBan) is the top-level league for women's association football in the Republic of Ireland. It is organised by the Football Association of Ireland and the Women's Football Association of Ireland. The LFAI (Ladies Football Association of Ireland) previously organised a women's national league known as the Ladies League of Ireland or the Women's League of Ireland during the 1970s and 1980s. The current league was founded in 2011–12 Women's National League (Ireland), 2011 and the inaugural winners were Peamount United F.C., Peamount United. The winners qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. WNL Cup
The League of Ireland Women's Premier Division ( ga, Príomhroinn na mBan i Sraith na hÉireann, sponsor name SSE Airtricity League Women's Premier Division) is a professional women's association football league in the Republic of Ireland, organised by the League of Ireland, which began play in the 2023 season. The league consists of eleven teams, eight of which owned by clubs with men's teams in the League of Ireland's Premier Division or First Division. The premiers of the league qualify for the first round of the UEFA Women's Champions League in the following season. The Women's Premier Division is the fourth incarnation of a national women's league at the highest level of the Republic of Ireland football league system, and the first fully-professional incarnation. Julie-Ann Russell
Julie-Ann Russell (born 28 March 1991) is a Republic of Ireland women's international footballer who currently plays for Galway in the Irish Women's National League. In 2014, Russell was voted both FAI Senior Women's International Player of the Year and the Women's National League Senior Player of the Year. Russell has played in three FAI Women's Cup finals for three different teams – the Galway Ladies League, Salthill Devon and UCD Waves. Caroline Thorpe
Caroline Thorpe (born 2 August 1981) is an Irish former international football midfielder who played for Raheny United, Peamount United and DLR Waves of the Women's National League. She also represented English Premier League clubs Arsenal Ladies and Leeds United Ladies, as well as Memphis Mercury in America. Club career Thorpe began her career with Redlake before moving to St. Catherine's in 1999. After helping the club to promotion, she joined Arsenal Ladies in August 2000 along with compatriots Susan Heapes and Yvonne Tracy. Thorpe was one of seven Irish players then in the Arsenal squad, and with Emma Byrne and Ciara Grant, one of three who were regulars in the first team. On her debut Thorpe scored two goals in a 5–0 win over Tranmere Rovers. She won the domestic treble in her first season, and was an unused substitute as Arsenal beat Fulham in the 2001 FA Women's Cup final at Selhurst Park. Sarah Rowe (born 25 July 1995) is a triple code sportswoman. She is a former Republic of Ireland women's association football international. In addition to association football, Rowe has also played two other football codes at a senior level. She has played ladies' Gaelic football for and women's Australian rules football for Collingwood in the AFLW. At club level, Rowe has played association football for Castlebar Celtic, Raheny United, Shelbourne, Bohemians in the Women's National League and for Melbourne Victory in the A-League Women. Sylvia Gee (born 30 November 1977) is a former Republic of Ireland women's international footballer who has spent the majority of her career playing in various women's association football leagues in the Republic of Ireland and the United States. Between 2003 and 2007, Gee was a prominent member and captain of the successful UCD team which qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup on three successive occasions. Karen Duggan
Karen Duggan (born 29 May 1991) is an Irish footballer who plays for Peamount United of the Women's National League (WNL). She has previously played for UCD Waves and the Republic of Ireland women's national football team. Between 2013 and 2016 Duggan was selected for the WNL Team of the Season for four successive seasons. She was the only player selected all four seasons. Emma Mullin (born 4 March 1985) is an Irish ladies' Gaelic footballer and association footballer. In Gaelic football, she won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship four times with Mayo GAA. In association football, she has played for the Republic of Ireland women's national football team. Gaelic football career Mullin was part of the Mayo GAA side that lost the 2001 All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship Final, and won the league in 2002.
