2012–13 Scottish First Division
The 2012–13 Scottish Football League First Division, also known as the 2012–13 Irn Bru Scottish Football League First Division for sponsorship reasons, was the 18th season of the Scottish Football League First Division and the 107th season of a second-tier football league in Scotland. Partick Thistle were confirmed as 2012–13 champions, on 20 April following their 2-0 win over Falkirk. This was the final season of the First Division under its then format, as it was replaced by the Scottish Championship from the 2013–14 season onwards. Teams Ross County were promoted to the Scottish Premier League as champions, while Dunfermline Athletic were relegated from the SPL to this division. The Scottish Football League First Division was the second tier in the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. History The First Division was introduced in 1975–76 to replace the old Scottish Football League Division Two, as the top flight of the Scottish Football League was renamed from Division One to Premier Division. In 1998, the Premier Division clubs broke away from the Scottish Football League to form the Scottish Premier League. The First Division remained the second tier of the Scottish league system, but was now the top tier of the Scottish Football League. The Dumbarton Football Stadium, commonly known as The Rock, and currently named The moreroom.com Stadium for sponsorship purposes is a stadium in Dumbarton, Scotland, used mostly for football matches; it is the home ground of Dumbarton Football Club. Dumbarton (; also sco, Dumbairton; ) is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. Central Park is a multi-use stadium in Cowdenbeath, Fife, Scotland, used for football and stock car racing. It is situated in the centre of the town, just off the High Street, and has a capacity of . Cowdenbeath (; sco, Coudenbeith) is a town and burgh in west Fife, Scotland. It is north-east of Dunfermline and north of the capital, Edinburgh.
