2012–13 Greenock Morton F.C. Season
Season 2012–13 sees Greenock Morton compete in their sixth consecutive season in the First Division, having finished 8th in the 2011–12 season. Morton will also compete in the Challenge Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Story of the season May Paul Di Giacomo, Colin Stewart, Stuart McCaffrey, Darren McGeouch, Ross Forsyth, Grant Evans, Marc Smyth, Andy Jackson, Matthew McGinley and Iain Flannigan left the club after their contracts expired. Mark McLaughlin was the first to be brought in to begin the rebuilding process. Joel Kasubandi and Creag Little were released while Fouad Bachirou stated he would not re-sign, Lewis Hawke and Martin Maguire were offered unpaid reserve contracts, and Andy Graham, Thomas O'Ware, Derek Young, Peter MacDonald, Archie Campbell and Peter Weatherson were asked to re-sign. Greenock (; sco, Greenock; gd, Grianaig, ) is a town and administrative centre in the Inverclyde council area in Scotland, United Kingdom and a former burgh within the historic county of Renfrewshire, located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It forms part of a contiguous urban area with Gourock to the west and Port Glasgow to the east. The 2011 UK Census showed that Greenock had a population of 44,248, a decrease from the 46,861 recorded in the 2001 UK Census. The Scottish Football League First Division was the second tier in the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. Joel Kasubandi
Joel Kasubandi (born 25 May 1993) is a Congolese footballer who plays as a striker for Scottish club Clydebank. Having moved to Scotland as a child, he began his professional career with St Mirren before making his senior debut for Greenock Morton in 2012. Moving to junior football, he played for Vale of Clyde before joining Clydebank in 2015. He signed for Kilbirnie Ladeside in August 2018. Greenock Telegraph
The Greenock Telegraph is a local daily newspaper serving Inverclyde (the council area containing the towns of Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow), Scotland. Founded in 1857, it was the first halfpenny daily newspaper in Britain. It was for a time Greenock Telegraph and Clyde Shipping Gazette, owing to the massive amount of maritime traffic moving in and out of Greenock's harbours. Mark McLaughlin
Mark McLaughlin (born 2 December 1975) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Since turning senior in 1999, McLaughlin has played over 100 games for both Clyde and Hamilton Academical. He has also played for Greenock Morton and Dumbarton. Career McLaughlin, a defender, began his career at junior club Arthurlie before moving to Clyde in 1999. Iain Flannigan (born 15 January 1988) is a former Scottish professional footballer. Flannigan previously played for Kilmarnock and then went on to play for Partick Thistle, Greenock Morton and Falkirk, before a lengthy stint with Alloa Athletic. Matthew McGinley (born 15 August 1989) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays as a goalkeeper for Rutherglen Glencairn. He started his senior career with Scottish First Division side Greenock Morton, after playing junior football. Marc Smyth (born 27 December 1982) is a Scottish-born Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently Head of Academy at Cliftonville after retiring. Grant Evans (born 3 January 1990) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays for Albion Rovers, on loan from Pollok. He has previously played in the Scottish Premier League for Hamilton Academical. Ross Forsyth (born 20 November 1982 in Glasgow) is a Scottish semi-professional footballer and coach who last played for Clydebank. Forsyth has previously played for St Johnstone, Greenock Morton, Dumbarton and Stirling Albion. Darren McGeouch
Darren McGeouch, (born 28 February 1990) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a midfielder. Career McGeouch started his career in Celtic's youth team before signing for Greenock Morton in 2007, choosing the Greenock side over rivals St Mirren and Kilmarnock. He stayed at the club for two seasons, making no appearances before signing with Stranraer. On 7 November 2009, McGeouch scored his first goal in senior football in a 4-2 defeat for Stranraer by English side Berwick Rangers. McGeouch had two spells with Stranraer, the last of which ended in March 2011 when he signed for an amateur side in Falkirk.
