Norwegian Television
Television in Norway was Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1954, but the first television program was only shown in 1958, and regular broadcasts did not start until 1960. Like Denmark, Norway had only one television channel until the 1980s. Some 40% of the population have Cable television, cable TV, and 30% have Satellite television, satellite TV. Another 30% have terrestrial television only. In Norway, all advertising containing political messages and advertising aimed at children are prohibited. Channels such as TV3 (Norway), TV3 are allowed to broadcast commercial breaks, as these channels are being broadcast via satellite from the United Kingdom. Non-Norwegian television programs (as well as portions of Norwegian shows with foreign language dialogue), except for children's programs, are subtitled, not dubbed. Idol (Norwegian TV Series)
''Idol - Jakten på en superstjerne'' is a television show on the Norwegian television channel TV 2, based on the popular British show ''Pop Idol''. The show describes itself as a "Search For A SuperStar". The contestants are first narrowed down to 100 contestants, and then down to 24-50 through several auditions and tests by a panel of judges. From this point on, the viewers decide who are in and who are out, and the judges limit themselves to commenting. TV viewers being what they are, the votes are based not solely on the singers vocal performance, but also on his or her looks, clothes, entertainment value, and other factors. In the first four seasons the agelimit for participation was 16–28 years old. In season five it was changed to 16–35. TV 2 Zebra is a Norwegian television channel showing entertainment programmes, interactive programmes and live sport mainly targeted towards a male audience. The channel was started as TV 2 Xtra on 24 January 2004, but before that the channel was first announced in 2003 as TV2 Plus, which is its working name. TV4 Hits
TV4 Hits (branded as Hits in Norway) is a Scandinavian premium television channel showing movies and TV shows. The channel shows big blockbusters, independent movies, classic movies, movies from the whole world and erotic movies. The channel was launched as ''Canal+ Film 2'' on 1 May 2004. On 1 November 2007 it changed its name to ''Canal+ Hits'' as part of a larger reorganization of the Canal+ channels. In the Swedish feed, it timeshares with Canal+ Sport 2 which broadcasts a few games in the weekend. In the Norwegian and Finnish network the channel is however broadcast in full. The channel changed name to C More Hits on 4 September 2012 as of big rebranding. C More was discontinued on 14 August 2023, in favor of TV4 Play in Sweden. Consequently, the channel was rebranded as TV4 Hits and simply as Hits in Norway. C More Tennis was a Scandinavian premium sports channel which replaced Canal+ Sport 2 on September 4, 2012, and became a sports channel with only tennis from ATP Tour, WTA Tour and Davis Cup. The channel also has the rights to the Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon. The channel was available: In Sweden through the C More packets: C More Max, C More Sports and C More Family. In Norway through the C More packets: C More Total and C More Sports. In Finland through the package: MTV3 Total. However, it was not meaningful in the first place that the channel should be available in Denmark since Canal 8 Sport substituted C More Sports and Tennis would be shown there, but the channel is available through C More Film package from Canal Digital, YouSee and Altibox together with C More Extreme. Martin Halla (born 4 June 1988 in Aurskog, Norway) is a Norwegian singer who, on 25 May 2012, won the inaugural series of ''The Voice – Norges beste stemme'', the Norwegian version of ''The Voice'' in 2012 and was broadcast on TV2. He was part of "Team Magne" as he was mentored by Magne Furuholmen.
