2012 S. League
The 2012 S.League was the 17th season of the S-League, the top professional football league in Singapore. It is known as the Great Eastern- Yeo's S.League for sponsorship reasons. Tampines Rovers won their fourth title, finishing top of a 13-team league. Teams Etoile FC withdrew their participation in the league to concentrate on grassroots football and youth development. DPMM FC have re-entered the league, coming back since they were suspended by FIFA in the 2009 campaign. Harimau Muda of Malaysia have also entered the fray. Managerial changes Stadium changes *Tampines Rovers moved into the Clementi Stadium due to the early commencement of the Tampines Sports Hub project which makes the Tampines Stadium unusable. *With Tampines moving into the Clementi Stadium, Tanjong Pagar United are moving out and back to the Queenstown Stadium which they previously vacated back in 2004. Tampines Rovers Football Club is a professional football club based in Tampines, Singapore, that competes in the Singapore Premier League, the top tier of Singapore football league system. Jurong East Stadium
Jurong East Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Jurong East, Singapore. It is opened from 7am to 7.30pm. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Albirex Niigata Singapore FC and Tanjong Pagar United. The stadium holds 2,700 people and opened in 1998. It is one of only three stadiums in Singapore that does not have a running track, and was built to serve only as a football stadium. Location The stadium is located in Jurong East, but it is closer to Chinese Garden MRT station. Koichi Sugiyama (footballer)
is a former Japanese football player and manager. he is current assistant manager J1 League club of Kyoto Sanga. Playing career Sugiyama was born in Takatsuki on October 27, 1971. After graduating from Osaka University of Commerce, he joined Urawa Reds in 1994. He became a regular player as left side back from first season. However his opportunity to play decreased behind Shinji Jojo from 1997 and he could not play at all in the match in 1998. In 1999, he moved to Verdy Kawasaki (later ''Tokyo Verdy''). He became a regular player in the club with many young players due to financial strain end of 1998 season. However his opportunity to play decreased from 2001. In 2003, he moved to J2 League club Albirex Niigata. However he could hardly play in the match and he retired end of 2003 season. Albirex Niigata Singapore FC, abbreviated as Albirex Niigata (S), is a Singaporean football club that plays in the Singapore Premier League. The club is a satellite team of Albirex Niigata of Japan. History Albirex Niigata Singapore, a satellite team of Japanese club Albirex Niigata, joined the S. League in 2004. It was in that year the Football Association of Singapore decided to invite foreign teams in the league in a bid to deal with poor attendance issues. Woodlands Wellington Football Club is an inactive professional association football, football club which played in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. They are based in Woodlands, Singapore, Woodlands at the 4,300 seater Woodlands Stadium, where they have played since their establishment. Tanjong Pagar United Football Club is a professional football club that competes in the Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. The club took part in S.League from 1996 to 2004, and from 2011 to 2014. The club withdrew from the league after the 2004 season because of financial problems, but returned in 2011, with several similar breaks meanwhile. The club also has its women's section. The club has since returned from 2020 onwards. Hougang United Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that competes in the Singapore Premier League. History Hougang United Football Club was founded as Marine Castle United Football Club, which was formed by Newcastle United fans in the Marine Parade area. Upon successful entry into the S.League in 1998, the club struggled in its early foray in the first few years, finishing in the bottom two for the next four seasons. Marine Castle changed its name to Sengkang Marine Football Club in 2002 and finished in 8th position consecutively, its highest ever finish in its short history. Gombak United Football Club was a professional Football (soccer), football club which competed in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. The club was based in Bukit Gombak. During the early years of the S. League, Gombak United played their home games at Bukit Gombak Stadium before moving to Jurong West Stadium in 2006 until they dissolved in 2012. Young Lions Football Club, commonly known as Young Lions, is a Singaporean developmental football club that competes in the Singapore Premier League. The team is under the direct control of the Football Association of Singapore. The Young Lions are one of the few football clubs in the world which place an age restriction on team members while playing in a top-flight professional league.
