2012 Regional League Division 2 Northern Region is the fourth season of the League competition since its establishment in 2009. It is in the third tier of the Thai football league system. Regional League Northern Region is the 3rd Level League in Thailand. It was formed in 2009 along with other four other regional leagues, all playing at the same level. The winner of each regional league enter the Regional League Championships to determine the three teams that will receive promotion to the Thai Division 1 League. League History Formed in 2009, 11 clubs applied to be part of the new setup; Chainat FC, Chainat, Chiangmai United FC, Chiangmai United, Chiangrai United FC, Chiangrai United, Kamphaeng Phet FC, Kamphaeng Phet, Phetchabun FC, Phetchabun, Phichit FC, Phichit, Phitsanulok FC, Phitsanulok, Phrae FC, Phrae, Sukhothai FC, Sukhothai, Tak FC, Tak and Uttaradit FC, Uttaradit. Chiangmai United and Phitsanulok were the only two teams with previous experience in the Thai football league system. Regional League Bangkok Area Division is one of six 3rd Level Leagues in Thailand. It was formed in 2009 along with other four other regional leagues at the time. Currently the winner and runner up of each regional league enter the Regional League Championships to determine the three teams that will receive promotion to the Thai Division 1 League. League History 2009 Formed in 2009, 10 clubs applied and were accepted to be part of the new setup; Bangkok Christian College, Bangkok Bravo, Bangkok North Central ASSN, Kasetsart University, Kasem Bundit University, Rangsit University, Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University, Raj Pracha-Nonthaburi, Raj-Vithi and Sarawitaya. Most of the clubs are linked closely to the city's universities. 700th Anniversary Stadium
The 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium ( th, สนามเชียงใหม่ 700 ปี) is a multi-purpose stadium in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, built to host the 1995 Southeast Asian Games and to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Chiang Mai's establishment at the same time. Uthai (, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the eastern part of Ayutthaya province, in Thailand. History The district was originally named Uthai Yai, but was renamed Uthai in 1916.
